As a Football team we are nearly there now, i believe this year draft is the most important draft we are ever to have since the draft coming in completing our midfield almost and Ruck Division. Our Midfield stock is getting good, a couple years, games on Gibbs,Murphy with another early pick like Grigg and the development of Simpson,Walker and Carazzoo with other good midfielders like Russell,Betts and now Jackson and the handy Bentick. If all goes well we pick up at least 1 top midfieler in this draft pick 3 no matter what. Our Ruck Division will be completed also if we get Krueser with number 1 pick with Shaun Hampson as a support who could turn out maybe better as a key position player along with Asaike Ohailipin leaving Sam Jacobs as the 2nd Ruckmen. Our Forward line is good with Waite,Fisher,S Ohailipin only need one small forward like a farmer,Sampi type but who doesn't go missing one week. That leaves the backline only to complete with the next 2 drafts, but we don't need early pick to get them as we could get them at pick 9 or our first picks as we move up the ladder but who knows Bower,Anderson,Benjamin could come good in the backline and maybe one of the talls in Asaike Ohailipin or Shaun Hampson could get a key position spot with their speed to help other defenders like Thornton and Jamieson. |

i agree with most of what you say but - what we need an experienced CHB, with the talent we have coming on a key CHB would be the icing on the cake, we conceed to many points each week & need the backline bolstered up We need someone who can take on the opposition forwards & burst the packs open, it would give us much better run off the backline & therefore get into our forward line a lot quicker to score |

The big issue appears to be that we are building a team and depth and with judicious drafting in future we should not get into the position we were in 2 years ago. I think Jamison (193cm) is being groomed for the CHB role and Austin (193cm) may also step up next year and take on a key defensive post. Combine those two with Carlos and that should provide some tall defensive positions. I think the quick small defender is more the concern. Don't forget that there may also be a player available with our third pick for that small key forward role if the cards fall the right way. |

A gun CHB about 196cm, strong, agile and runs like the wind. A ruckman who makes Cox look as bad as Ackland. And a couple more gun midfielders who are quick and use the ball well by hand and foot so we can have the Carlton mosquito fleet Mark 2. Then we are set!!! Fill in the gaps for premiership glory? FB: Anderson O'Hailpin Jamison HB: Walker ????????? Scotland C: Simpson (VC) Gibbs Grigg HF: Waite Kennedy Fisher F: Betts Fevola ??????? Foll: ?????? Stevens (C) Murphy Int: Aisake Hampson Jackson Carazzo Bower Austin ?????? Not a bad looking side really, maybe we aren't that far away???? |

Anderson Jamison Thornton Int. Hartlett Bower Austin Grigg Int. S. O'hAilpin/Benjamin Simpson Gibbs Walker Int. Houlihan Fisher Kennedy Waite Russell Fevola Betts A. O'Hailpin Stevens Murphy Int. Hampson/Jackson/Carrazzo This is my potential premiership without future draft picks or trades. I'm not sure about all of the players mentioned here, and there are a few that I've omitted for the reasons below. Bentick: For no other reason than he's had a few bad games and he's not super fast. Whitnall: You know. Saddington: Has impressed the last week or two. Will be part of our rebuilding for now, but will make way soon. McLaren: ![]() Ackland: ![]() Lappin: Won't be here for the 17th flag. Blackwell: Impressive, but questionable disposable and speed. Teague: ![]() Cloke: Was impressive when given a game, but I like our tall stocks at the moment, so...where will he fit in? He's an ok 2nd ruckman I suppose, but with Zak + Hammer/Jacobs/(dare I saw Kreuzer?), will he be needed? Scotland: Won't be here/has his flaws. Bannister: Done an ok job, but ![]() Wiggins: Won't be here. Raso: Questionable. Edwards: Unlucky. Jacobs: Questionable mobility, but talented nonetheless. Young: Meh. Flint: Unlucky. Comments? |

I agree with most of it. Not a fan of Houlihan and I think Russell is a concern. I was a fan of Flint but something has gone wrong this year. I think with the right people Thornton will be squeezed out. A couple of gun draft picks to it and it looks positive! |

Nah i wouldn't pick one with pick 36 not in this draft,i'll take the chance with a Full Forward for the future or another defender and take our chance with Ashley Sampi if we have another pick if no one touch him. |

The way I see it, the fact that we couldn't put away what was probably the worst Essenscum side of recent memory, shows that we are still FAR from 'almost there'. Long way to go yet, and more than a #1 draft pick's gonna be needed. |

If that's the case then the early pick is a definite start in the right direction. |

Most definitely. But it's not going to suddenly turn us into a force, as many here seem to think. |

I think don they are hoping more than anything else. Look I've read your posts and I feel your frustration and I was an anti tanker myself. In fact at the game on Saturday I didn't know how to feel which just isn't right. But lets be honest if we are tanking and I think we are...off-filed via the selection table and coaching panel...the players on the ground are definitely NOT. So given this I was convinced on Saturday that we really do need early picks as we still have a way to go yet. You've got to admit the scum fielded a pretty crap team and in fact are a pretty crap team and we still couldn't get over the line. |

I don't dispute any of that for a second. Yes, we need early draft picks to build our team, of course, and if this Kreuzer bloke ends up coming here I'll be the first to welcome him with open arms. However people underestimate the damage that is being done to the rest of the team through this whole thing. The damage done from their own supporters cheering for the opposition, the damage from everyone in the football world accusing them of throwing in the towel when they fade out through lack of fitness, from their own administration publically saying that they're better off losing. People here just assume they'll get over it and suddenly play like a million bucks next year because they've got another couple of good kids or because those same two-faced supporters will suddenly cheer for them again. But anyone that thinks that all this doesn't affect their development, and that they're just going to forget about this chapter in our history, is absolutely kidding themselves. These aren't robots we're talking about here. |

Find me one quote where any poster has said that getting #1 next year will "suddenly turn us into a force", I could easily counter that by saying... Winning another game this year won't suddenly turn us into a force, as many here seem to think. |
