It's a rumour I know, but if true it would be funny.

According to the thread below on bomberblitz
http://www.bomberblitz.com/forum/index. ... opic=35443
...the 48 point comeback win from Carlton in round 3 was the straw that broke the camel's back with the Essendon* board. They were never going to renew his contract after that game.

If true this would be fantastic, especially if the Sheedy sacking turns into something with post-Norm Smith like results.

That may be true, and when we sacked Pagan it also forced their hand to do announce the sacking of Sheedy straight away.

Once again, Essendon* are our bitches!

The opposite actually, mainly because the only time I have a peek is when they are going badly.

There is some great stuff on there at the moment about Lloyd being the worst captain ever, board rumblings and an Essendon* youtube thread which I am really tempted to post a clip of the 99 prelim into.

Dark times are coming for Essendon*.

Brave words will be spoken about how it was necessary to embrace the post sheedy era.

However, in coming years, many will look back fondly to when they had Kevin - it will be seen as a golden era.

Their next coach will be perceived to be a failure and a poor choice by the board.

The divisions caused by the sacking of Sheedy, and also the way that it was handled will cause serious instability at that club.

Many years of rebuilding are ahead.

Totally agree. They already have no midfield. Next year there'll be no Hird. no Sheedy - soon no Fletcher too. Years of struggle ahead. Happy days!!

and it couldnt happen to a nicer club... bunch of bogans. They cheated the system just as much as we did and got nothing more than a slap on the wrist. I hope they suffer.

They will NEVER be forgiven for '93, we should be on 17. Maybe we can trade Ackland to 'em

I feel a little like Nostradamus 8) . When Campo left to play finals footy  I predicted both he and Sheedy would be looking for new employment in 2008.

Maybe we could throw Campo a lifeline in the way of a base contract and use half of that on the veterans list  .

No, maybe not.

Even though my nervousness about the scum is well known here, I admit that things aren't looking good for them and I couldn't be happier. Now there's going to be a challenge to the board (by 5 blokes yet to reveal themselves...brave), Sheedy and Hird will be gone, with Fletcher, Michael, Lloyd and Lucas to follow suit over the next few years. Now it's THEIR turn to rebuild, and suffer the indignities that entails as we have.

It's amazing how quickly it all goes pear-shaped when Ron Evans isn't around anymore for protection, huh?

Some of that sounds ironically familiar. :?

I reckon we cost Essendon* both the 1999 and 2001 premierships.

1999 is obvious.
2001 we poked Brisbane with a sharp stick and woke them up. :-D

And now we're sacking Sheedy as well.

@#$%&! I love this club sometimes
