Even though i do not think that Blackwell and Bentick are alike, many people on this site compare them. IMO, Bentick is a slightly better player than Blackwell, but with experience, Blackwell could overtake him. I am interested to see who people on this sight think is better |

I purchased Blackers' 2006 Heritage Round jumper. ![]() Therefore he must be the better player. ![]() |

..far too early to call this.. ..they do play a different style but it's bentick's 50? odd more senior games that tiotally puts this comparison out of whack.. ..and its not like comparing a 150gamer to a 100gamer, blackwell would be lucky to have a dozen senior games, and prolly mostly played in bit parts off the bench.. |

Bentick has limited scope for improvement, however we need to know as we move forward how much we value this style of player. Will his work ethic and in and under style compliment our team. Blackwell lacks the toughness of Bentick, however his movement across the field, skills and vision outweigh Bentick. He has scope for improvement over the years. Blackwell has more upside in my opinion but Bentick underpins some mental and physical toughness that we lack a lot of the time. |

Bentick is useless IMO because he can't rove taps. So essentially we have a bloke in our 22 to tackle at and occasionally dish out the loose ball from a stoppage. Meanwhile, Blackwell can actually doing something defensively in space, and has better jets, disposal, smarts and vision than Bentick, but Bentick is a longer kick. So it's: Blackwell - vision, precision, versatility, nous vs Bentick - brute force Not a contest at all. The solution should be phase out Bentick and re-jig the centre bounce setup. Walker & Carrazzo are obvious candidates, but don't discount Edwards & Raso if they kick on. They have a lot of experience with Aisake and performed well as combination on occasion. Sorry Cazz, I know you had a hand in Adam's recruitment |

Neither. Lack the foot skills to play in a Premiership Team. |

A touch simplistic some would argue, but Betts and Jacko part of a midfield that took Ants to a 112 point win over Nth Ballarat. Put Jacko and Betts in ones v Aints a week later, and our midfield looks a lot more competitive against a team that has ritualistically torched us for years. Put AB back in twos and they get hammered, even though he won his fair share of the ball - as he does in the ones. Blackers and AB seem may get it plenty in the Ants, but how often in winning teams? Do they make a "difference"? On balance, Blackers, but both have a way to go. |

You can only really compare them when they've played roughly an equal number of Senior games. Luke may have more natural talent; but that's not everything. |

Bit harsh on Blackwell. His skills can improve, but he is capable of hitting a target lace out. Bentick works hard but will not be in Carlton's long term plans. I hope Blackwell is as he is a ball magnet. You can teach em how to use it, you can't teach em how to find it. |

I think that a lot of posters are underestimating Adam and the work that he does under and in the packs. Luke's best work is IMO as an outside distributor and he does have some bad habits ie. picking up kicks by running around behind players to take a handpass. IMO Adam provides more options for match ups for the MC as he has superior height, more pentrating kicking skills and a better defensive side to his game than Luke. Luke has better aerobic capacity and is quicker but IMO still needs another pre-season or two in the gym to work on his kicking depth and strength in the packs. I think the MC is trying to fast track players at present and must give younger players games no matter what the form of the more experienced players. On form I think Adam deserved to keep his spot however I can understand that we need to get more experience into Luke and make a decision on the future of all players on the list. |

I'm a fan of both but I think some people have no idea what they are on about. Bentick plays a close checking style on his opponent. He may not get it as much as some but then neither does his opponent. As an old friend of mine would always say, "show me the entire balance sheet, not just the bank account". With Bentick, that's what you need to do. Look at both sides of the ledger. By the way, he was tagged heavily on the weekend for the Bullants. I don't know of too many guys that get tagged in the two's. Do you? So, he must have something going for him. The opposition seem to think so. |

Neither are up to AFL Standard. Both are lucky to be on an AFL list. It says a lot about our list. |

Go watch the Weagles mate, while I watch the young Blues build a future. We have got a good list, and our new coach will now begin to develop it. |

50 games out of a rookie is a pretty good result, I would have thought. |

geebus some of you must watch a different game to me. these are the same people that rant and rave about Carrots, yet dismiss Blackwell and Bentick? tell you this, Blackwell will be the best of the lot by the end of his career, as for his "shit kicking" look up Heath Scotland if you want to see someone that is a shit kick, shit decision maker. Blackwell is one of our better movers of the ball, runs to space, rarely misses a target and makes the correct decisions. Bentick is a solid contributor, far from the worse player in our list. I would have both of them ahead of Scotland at the minute. |

He rarely misses a target with his preferred 20 metre kick, but few do. When he goes longer, he may as well be kicking a balloon for all the penetration he gets. As for running into space, if that space is behind or a short distance to the side of the man with the ball, I'd agree with you. But I wouldn't say his possessions add much value to the chain of possessions, and just give the opposition the opportunity to flood back. Right now, the opposition would be happy to let him rack up possessions because he doesn't hurt them. I hope he improves and proves me wrong. He certainly has the ability to find the ball and can handball quickly and effectively in traffic. |
