Pros:
-Much more competitive by the boys
-Betts intensity around the packs, held up the ball with tackling and his pace was outstanding
-100 points better then last week
-Carrazzo was awesome
- ACTION JACKSON, great for the knights, bullants and blues!

Cons:
- Saddington, should have done much better at spoiling as the loose man
- Bannister, lack of awareness - could be gone
- Injuries

A breath of fresh air

PROS

1. Jackson - beat or at least drew level with Harvey. Pretty impressive

2. WE DIDN'T BOMB - it doesn;t look pretty when we chip around the back half, and it wasn;t so successful either - but that's because we haven't practiced it in games. The main thing was we didn;t bomb into their flood which has infuriated me no end.

3. Carraz, Simmo - continue to rack em up

4. Fev - gun, and should be kept

5. Betts - I have been a critic but he had a great last quarter

CONS

1. Saddington - don't anyone answer back that he had 20 odd touches (they were chippies). He is a hack. Punches when should mark, coughs it up. Should not play for Carlton.

2. Banno - surely to be delisted

3. Realising how behind we are in the subtleties of the game - you watch how St. Kilda's midfielders and forwards in particular block leads and perfrom set plays, and you realise how far behind Pagan put us by just playing crach bang kick long 'non-subtle' footy . Why don;t we ever block for Fev like they do for Riewoldt?

4. Inability to find space - When we chip around, it often looks like it fails due to our poor kicking, which is partly true. But it is also because we don;t create space for leads, mostly due to point 3 above.

5. Thorno - I know he was up against it but I reckon he got towelled

5 more losses till Kreuzer - go you good things (or don't go  )

Pros:

1. Jackson.

2. We didn't do the obligatory pointless win after a coach sacking dealie.

Cons:

1. We're not actually bad enough to lose to Melb in round 22 unless Fev actually tears his thigh.

2. Even if Fev tears his thigh, noone will actually believe us now given the events of the last week.

- Jackson
- Not bombing, but holding up the ball against the flood
- An honourable loss

- Saddington

1 Jackson Fev's 5, Betts back

2 a different game plan (Hallelujah!!

1 Saddington, Ackland
2 A tired Thornton - who's had a s**tful three months
3. Waite back and Setanta forward

Pros
- the kids played well and are improving.
- team played with passion.
- add Walker, Kennedy and a couple more years experience and we should have a pretty good side.

Cons
- if we play like this against Melbourne (and possibly the Kangaroos & Essendon*) we can say bye bye to Kreuzer.

Pros:
- Competitive for most of the four quarters, despite some ugly (and probably necessary) football at times, and heads didn't drop in the way to which we've sadly become accustomed
- some patience and willingness to hold on to the footy if faces with no options; sure, it'll take some time perfect this, but it sure beats simply bombing the thing
- Betts, finally given a solid stint in the midfield
- Jackson, who ran hard all day, and looked comfortable at AFL level
- Carrazzo, for whom performances like this are now becoming more common than not, which is a credit to the bloke
- Simmo's leadership (most noticeable through the binoculars at the quarter and three-quarter time huddles)

Cons:
- Saddington looked lost as loose man in the back line; in his defence, I thought he performed well in the last quarter when given a familiar role (on Riewoldt)
- Our key defenders in general...not a good day at the office

Could not agree more, glad to see someone is with me.
Saddington was awful today, he played a shocker as the loose man in defence (easiest spot on the ground) and cost us countless goals.
Also as much as i like Bannister, i agree, he really isnt up to it consistantly

Also agree about the subtlety and poor choice of options when chipping around. Too often we don't have players with a clear idea of how to create opprtunities.

Several times today we were caught out with players standing flat-footed and not on the move when a quick response to the situation could have made all the difference.

Making space is one thing, standing flat-footed and waiting another.

Pros:
Jackson was hard at it and provided good run. Neat disposal as well.
Betts was good through the middle
Used the bench for rotational reasons and not to hide and punish.
The spirit shown in the last quarter where in previous games it would have been a 10 goal drubbing
Carazzo was very good again.
Bower didnt look out of place. Will be a good player
No long bombs into the forward line

Cons:
After todays performance there must be serious doubts on jordon russells ability to play at this level.
Using Saddington as a link man.
Hearing on radio pre-game that whitnall declared that he will be playing next week.

PROS:
-Jackson, great effort on Harvey to keep under 20 and have more disposals would've been great for the kid. Amazing when a kid's given a task and oh...more than 10 minutes on the ground what might happen.

-Betts & Carazzo.

-So much more passion and attack on the footy. Only bad turnovers and pretty crappy umpiring decisons in the last qtr cost us the game. Even given that had Gibbs converted we still would've had a minute to try and pinch it.

CONS:
-Hackland must be dropped for the remainder of the season and a kid promoted.
-Time to bring in a young defender. Our defence is ordinary at best.

Pros

We almost won.
We didn't win.
:?
Action Jackson will play on.
Fev still has a place in our side. I think.
I have renewed confidence in everything, especially the future.

Cons

We may win one.
We may lose the rest.
:?
Injuries
We'll have to go on for a while with passengers like Ackland, etc.
We're still a season away from consistent football.

Pros

1. We killed the aspiring finalist in the last Q, when the kids should have tired

2. We won the first Q in an impressive opening

3. Who said Betts shouldn't be in the team? Bondiblue did. Bettsy was very good today. Hard at it and used his pace well. Plenty of upside.

4. Carrots is our Ratten (I thought it was Bentick). Carrotshas proven to be one of the competition's best midfielders.

5. Simmo , Fish, Fev, Lappin = stars today

6. Great coaching effort by Ratten in his first. He's moved emotions in the right direction. Players played possession footy with spirit.

7. Bower got better as the game went on. Goes to show the kids need game time. Ditto Jackson, Russell , Blackwell and Gibbs.

8. Still have Kruezner on the radar.

9. The spirit and comradeship the boys showed after the first goal. What a spine tingling celebration.

10. Setanta and Fev cpompeting for goal of the day.

Cons

1. Saddo was OK, but is taking up development time away from our kids.

2. Chipping around in defence cost us goals. We need to be more direct and daring.

3. Can't see Melb beating us in rnd 22. May also beat Scum.

4. Banno isn't going to make it. How did he get caught again? I didn't think I'd ever see that again. Question on talk.

5. Ackland isn't an AFL footballer. Tried hard, did his best, but it's not good enough. Setanta isn't a ruckman.

6. Pity Wiggo got injured. He started well, and today was his good opportunity to show his wares to the new coach...and me.

7. Thornton is having a very bad year. WTF? Bad day in the office again.

8. Gibbs miss at the 30 minute mark.

9. Umpiring. We could have won this if they did their job without bias.

In addition,

Blackwell is not the same type of player as Bentick.
Waite would be better for us in the forwardline or wing when Thornton finds form.
I hope Hartlett, Austin or Jamieson step up next year to release Waite.
Setanta should be playing back or forward, not ruck.
We need 2 ruckmen in 2008: Aisake , Jacobs?

Conrats to Ratten and the Blue boys on a very good effort.

He did some nice things but he just seems really hesistant and gets lost in traffic.
On a couple of occasions he over ran the ball but apart from that he was ok. At least some of his decisions today were better.

Pros

Russell's second half - worth persisting with
Betts was good
Jackson played well - footballer first and athlete second.
Fev kicking five goals on one leg.
We fought out the game and didn't roll over.
Better use of the bench may have played a part in this.
We didn't miss Bentick
Five games to go until we get Kreuzer
Carrazzo getting a lot of the ball
I saw SOS and Sticks - SOS looked down after they only won by 10 :-D
Murphy

Cons

Carrazzo kicking the ball
Five games to go until we get Voss
Our backline couldn't stop a TAC side from scoring and we won't win another game
Ackland jumping early against hack ruckman and missing the ball
Bannister & Saddington - just because they're getting a game
We played the Saints - their supporters are flower who are bitter and twisted because they keep failing to get where they want to be. One gave me a dirty look when I cheered Fisher's goal from Russell's kick.

I saw a guy who was dressed like a Sheik and he was barracking for the Saints.
