I believe:
-That Matthew Kreuzer will be a very good player in the AFL and that any team would love to have him

-That we have the set-up now for a very talented, athletic ruck division and that this will become evident next year with Aisake O’hAilpin sharing the ruck with Cameron Cloke

-That we have a very talented midfield and that the return of Nick Stevens, along with the new coach freeing up Bryce Gibbs and Andrew Walker into the midfield to complement the likes of Marc Murphy, Kade Simpson, Adam Bentick, Luke Blackwell, Shaun Grigg, Jordan Russell will give us the drive and class that we need and that we will add to this through this years draft

-That the new coach will focus on attack, but not at the expense of accountability. We will see a team that plays much better football when they don’t have the ball and will tackle and hunt in packs for four quarters.

-That we have a defensive structure in our squad already that can and will be able to shut down opposition forwards and provide rebound and attack and futhermore that the new coach will work on stabilising this back six allowing them to gel and grow together.

-That we have a forward line that with improved work rates from the midfield and from themselves will be able to kick winning scores every week. That the delivery into the forward line will improve by getting better ball-users into the midfield and having these midfielders enter the ball into the 50 from better positions due to the increased run and work-rate. That we will have multiple goal-kicking options, that we won’t rely on Fev but he will still be there and will kick over 70 goals next year.

-That the new coach will allow the kids to play in the positions that they are meant to (eg Kennedy at CHF, Gibbs on the ball) and that our kids will get a string of games in the seniors rather than being in and out of the team every week.

-That the most important thing for the rest of the season is not to lose to obtain the priority pick, but rather to get some hope and excitement back into the playing list. Guys like Murphy have had to deal with too much responsibility and hardship for so early in their career that they couldn’t help but be feeling the stress and disappointment. We need to give these kids something to look forward to next season and this will arise through the application of a better gameplan, being competitive in EVERY game for the rest of the season and possibly even winning a game or two regardless of the fact it will cost us the priority pick.

-That although this year has been disappointing, there have been positive signs and that in 2008 these positive signs will start to bear fruit.

-That we all need to stick with our team, support the new coach whoever it is, support each and every player that pulls on that navy blue jumper and have faith in the direction that club is taking and that the right people are now getting into the right places.

-Most importantly, I believe that we are on the rise and that Premiership number 17 isn’t too far away. GO BLUES!

Hopefully, the new coach will bring in a radical new policy.

If we don't have a bona fide ruckman available because of poor form or injury, let's go in without a ruckman rather than asking a tall forward to fill the breach. Let's have 4 midfielders in the centre square instead, and rove to the opposition ruckman.

If we don't have a player who is best suited to play as a defender on a small forward rather than in the midfield, just let the opposition small play without an opponent. Instead, use the extra midfielder in the midfield where he belongs and he can cut off the supply to the small forward from there.

Don't play a sub-standard tall defender just to have someone to play on opposition tall forwards. Instead, if the best available player is a midfielder, play the midfielder in the hole in front of the tall forward.

That way, we won't ever have to see any of our players play in a position other than his natural position. And we'll be all the better for it.

While no question he has shown more than a bit in the ruck in the second half of this season, I think he is more valuable to us playing at full-back. We need to continue playing these guys that we have groomed as defenders, so as to get a strong and stable back six.

But he's SO good around the ground....

Besides, I'd miss those goal celebrations - second to none.

GO CARLOS!
