The following excerpt from today's Herald Sun is very disturbing, IF TRUE.

Whoever we appoint for the rest of the year needs to start getting whoever is picked to play each week, playing for the honor of wearing the jumper and representing club again. This sort of behavior has no place at Carlton. If true we really are a rabble and have quite a long way to go yet.

Talk out of Brisbane since Sunday had some Carlton players blueing with each other during the 20-goal loss to the Lions at the Gabba.

On-ground participants from that match yesterday told the Herald Sun there was regular abuse hurled between Carlton players.

Long-time football watchers will tell you that warring teammates usually belong to a club where the coach's message is being lost.

CB this has been going on for far too long. Several posters have pointed out Thornton and Scotland as two of the main offenders. Symptomatic of our biggest issue of all - minimal leadership on the field. Do you think a Buckley, Voss or Brown would tolerate that?

Agree Taff.

I've followed this club for too bloody long to accept this sort of crap from a Carlton team. I can't imagine a Serge, Chitty, Hands, Williams, Nicholls, Buckley, Doull, Johnno, Sticks, Peter Dean, etc, putting up with this crap either. Had anyone tried this on last century they would have had their arses kicked so flowering hard they would have ended up in next century.

Look whoever is appointed, I pray they are a bloody hardnut who makes it very clear that if you aren't playing for the navy blue, and willing to give your last breath for it, then flower off to some other club.

I really don't care if we finish last for the next five years. The next coach just has to rid the club of this attitude or any progress we make on the field and ladder will be utterly meaningless and ultimately useless.

Its been a frustrating 5 years for our players.
A new head and a fresh voice were way overdue.

This was a club who had no gameplan over a long period of time. Of course playters would argue under those circumstances.
There is no leadershop .. they were undrilled.

Killer combo!

The changes that everyone is looking for at our club will happen gradually at first, but will then quicken.

Ratten I believe will do reasonably well as caretaker coach, and I still think that it will be either him or Voss as coach in 2008..

Although I like Voss, I think that contractual issues will prevent Voss from taking up the role and Ratten will end up being the man in charge.

As bad as our problems are, (and yes they are bad) they arent as bad as they were in earlier years, because we do have the basis for a new team in place.

Players that warm to a new coach and want to play for him will go a fair way towards solving many of the ills that we are facing, and soon there will be no more abuse or warring between our players on the field...

There will be a very pleasant surprise in store for Carlton in a season not too far away, maybe even only a couple of seasons away.

The sign that is a portent to Carltons resurgence now will be the beginning of a serious war, most likely in the Middle East.

The new young coach we appoint will be successful early in his career..

Maybe they did - they ended up here!
