Sticks is on the board, elected by the members, not able to be sacked like an employee of the club so its a bit pointless calling for his head. I don't think its such a problem to have a man there who bleeds navy blue and I don't believe his decisions re hiring and firing have been that bad - I agreed with the decision to hire Pagan and the decision to fire him; dito Wayne Britain. I agree that for good governance a board members should not also be on the match committee and that some structural changes are required, but I think Sticks might be copping a little more crap than he deserves. Take him away from football decisions but overal, in the right 'job', he is good for the club - getting Pratt on board a good example.
I have no problem with Sticks remaining on the board ... I do have a problem with him having the football portfolio. Sure he bleeds Carlton but that department is not for him. He has presided over a portfolio that had no succession plan for the likes of himself, ratts, braddles, deisel, SOS etc ... it is the major reason we are where we are at the minute. He also presided over a department that endorsed extending Pagan's contract on the back of a wizard cup win. His two most important coaches had a stand off because the senior coach thought he was greater than the organisation and could decide with whom he would and wouldn't liaise with ... it was allowed to fester. Was he also not on the board that was responsible for the salary cap rorts ???
We have a new president, new CEO, we will have a new coach soon ... good time to install someone else to the football portfolio.
