It's possible now. We're up to around 2150. 6 games to go. Frightening. |

..we've got 1582 points for so far this year, across 16 rounds.. ..that gives us an average of 99, just under 100pts a game.. ..nothing flash, it does get worse though.. ..we've conceded 2146 pts over 16 rounds, to give us an average of 134.. ..so on average we lose by a bit under 6 goals.. ..so, with that points against average over the next 6 rounds we could add another 800odd points against to a season tally which would kick us up around 2950.. ..a few more thorough bashings though will see our losing game margin rise, which could increase the average.. ..we could very easily top the 3000 mark.. ..disgraceful.. ..not even remotely competitive.. |

The sad thing is that guys like Thornton, Saddington, O'Halpin, Lappin and Waite have all shown at different times that they can be capable defenders (Lappin was an All-Australian at half-back a few years ago). So it makes the statistic even more galling when technically we should have a pretty good defence but either the confidence or the gameplan is letting them down. It's clear Pagan has no respect for the work defenders do, always going on about how attacking at all costs is SO much better for our players. |

Do you reckon it's got something to do with Pagan's game plan? Let's kick 20 goals and who cares if we concede 40. Sometimes I wonder whether we actually have 18 players on the ground. I will do a head count next time I get to a game. |

Bloody oath it is. Apparently things like having a loose man in defence or a tight structure down back is far less important than bombing the ball long into Fev's (double-teamed) hands. |

Impossible to have a defence function properly when a different group of six players are positioned down there week after week. I'd hazard a guess and say that Thornton and maybe Scotland would be the only players that have played in our backline every game this year (oh, and Gibbs of course), the rest get shuffled around continually. How Pagan expects the defence to learn each others games and gel together is beyond me. My main interests in Carlton games are at the first bounce, because: a) scores are level, and b) I'm curious to see how Pagan has positioned all the players this week |

Was stated during the game that before yesterday we had the 6th worst defence in VFL/AFL history - can only assume that yesterday made that look even worse A lot of blame shouldn't go to the defenders though, the complete lack of pressure and manning up through the middle of the ground makes it almost impossible to stop scores |

exactly any defence is as only good as the midfield pressure put on the ball carrier. Brown kicked 10, and 8 of them, i dont think that any defender, even Silvagni in his prime could do anything about. but also, we need to have our defence cemented. |

Not now Den Den's gone! Mathematically, though, I suggest 2948 against, 2177 for. Still not pretty, though |
