Post subject:  Round 14 - Pros and Cons

The circus show continues..........

PROS

1. Setanta's first half - Showed great signs. He's still very raw, and makes blunders that you wouldn't accept from a born and bred. The test is whether he can take the next step one day. I believe he'd be better off develping in 1 possie, but 'developing' ain't a priority obviously.

2. Simpson - Played a really good game. Stood up, showed more character than 30 did last week.

3. Gibbs' mark - oh, what the hell, stick him back in the back pocket.

4. The PP or pick 2 is still alive - in the long run, better to lose today.

5. 40 clearances to 26 despite hitouts being beat 60 to 19 in hitouts - well done to the in and under boys.

CONS

1. Russel - had good game time, can't complain about that. Looked like a lost chook. Russ just cannot get himself to contests, seems more unnatural than Setanta.

2. Hartlett in backline on Newton - look, RiverRodent, in his great reports for which we should be thankful, has repeatedly said that Hartlett is crap on lead-mark forwards. Does the Rodent know more than our coaching staff? Has looked half ok as a forward in 2 matches, but we have little room there. Will he make it?

3. Scotland - GET WITHIN 5 METRES OF YOUR MAN, HEATH. He's been given too much license to play free

4. Development - Grigg, Bower, Hartlett, Russel etc. The young draftees that will determine our future often seem lost in the AFL. I know the mitigating factors. I know it's early days, and they're young. I know that we don;t have much support from above. But, if you don't feel uncomfortable that all Collingwood's kids slot in like they were born to play, whilst ours all look like foreigners, you're kidding yourself. Where is the development? Who's teaching Bower to improve his defensive skills?

5. Eddie Betts - if we ever wanna go anywhere we need a better crumber. PLenty of opportunities to be front and centre today. He's slow!

We are very, very, very bad.

We need the priority pick very, very, very badly.

It's sad to think like this, but i"ll say it -

8 losses to go.

It's time

Pros:

Simpson brilliant and lead from the front
Murphy and Carazzo were both great in the middle
Bowers defensive efforts were good
Setantas first half was great
Kennedy showed a bit at CHF. Pity we are going to kill him by playing him in the ruck
The priority pick is still alive and do we need it.
Houla was very good in his 150th. One of his best games.

Cons:

Heath Scotland too loose and unaccountable.
Dragging Grigg as soon as made a mistake and never to return. Our kids look scared/frightened on the field.
Walkers kicking was ordinary. Also wasnt fit and shouldnt have played (Gee that Colin Sylvia is a very smart player)

How are we so sure it's all the flower players!???

The coach has got to flower go is what has to happen!! Preferrably sometime this week! Piss him off!!

Let's show everyone we WILL NOT accept mediocrity in our team. Did you see the way we broght the ball forward?? Long bombs, paddock style!

Let's @#$%&! off this coach who has no new ideas, rehashing his old shit and bring in someone to coach the remainder of the season, perhaps a Ratten or Crosisca..

PRO -

Pagan one game away from getting the axe. I've had enough it's time for Pratt to act & give the reins to Ratten for the rest of the year.

Post subject:

It was all summed up for me in the first post...we need that priority pick so, so badly...I now will be hoping for a competitive effort but to miss out on the chocolates for the rest of the year.

Having said that - let's start with the cons...

1. If we ban Fev for on field indiscretions then HEATH SCOTLAND must be dropped to the Ants next week. For the last 3 weeks he's done nothing but finger point and REFUSES to pick up his own man. He was DISGRACEFUL today and was shifted from 3 opponents...his final opponent in the backline - Paul Wheatley could not believe the latitude Scotland gave him....

2. Pagan ..enough said.

Pros'....Keep playing the young guys ...all of Bower, Grigg, Hartlett & JK should play in Sydney next week.

Pro's

Simpson played well apart from some shoddy disposal.

Houlihan....one of his better games IMHO..attacked the footy ok, contained Davey and used the ball better than most, he would be happy with his 150th.

Setanta.....had a red hot go, took some nice marks, and a couple of nice goals..

Carrazzo...plenty of the footy, but didnt use it that well later in the game....I think Blackwell in the team would help Carrazzo as he appeared to tire a bit and was tagged heavily after quarter time.

Murphy some nice stuff...but not enough, tagged heavily by Jones and playing to a losing ruck makes it hard for a young kid...

JK...couple of nice goals and went ok when he was on...not a ruckman though and is better up forward...

Cons
Some of our kids looked like rabbits caught in the headlights....got to feel sorry for them...Grigg got sold into trouble by some of his teammates and there seemed to be a lack of talking.
Bower wanted to run and create but lacked the confidence and got caught with the footy....tried to defend and punch the ball away but looked lost.
Hartlett played on a random called Newton and and as often happens with random no names he managed to hurt us on the scoreboard. Hartlett did some good things though and got some rough calls so I wont be judging him too harshly.

Newton will be a target for us now to trade for. The man who kicked a bag (should off) against us.

Pros

Houlihan beat Davey comprehensively and still managed to rebound a fair bit. Showed composure and got a few hardballs.

Simpson's captain's game. Brilliant.

The occasional inspiring moment from JK/Setanta/Fisher/Kouta/GIBBS (what a mark) etc.

Cons

Grigg's confidence will be totally shot after being caught twice - the first time when standing still. Looked like a rabbit caught in the headlights. I felt nauseous, and so sorry for him, as if he was my brother. I saw him jog over near Scotland. There was no consolation, Scotland basically ignored him. Some attitude problem with that guy.

The way Carlton supporters bag our own players and ignore their good work. "Blind prejudice"! I know you're out there!

Carlton's overall on-field predicament. Low on confidence, low on experience. Do we drop kids and bring in no-hopers, or play kids and get pounded, so they lose more confidence. Between a rock and a hard place.

We're not going to get Kreuzer. Richmond are an absolute lock for his signature.
