What will be the final capacity of PP? I had a dream (whilst awake) that Mr Grollo and Mr Pratt would decide to build a new private stadium on the site for about 40K spectators to be used by the Blues as their home ground when appropriate (against Adelade, Port etc) and by the AFL at a price for other games.

I think plenty of people are well aware that Carlton will only be playing home games at PP in their dreams. Blue Sombrero certainly isn't on his own there.

I think there will be a huge push for home games against the interstaters once the redevelopment is complete. When you consider the green light from the AFL for Geelong home games at Kardinia Park and how much of an advantage that is for them and our appauling record at Telstra dome,i think we have a strong case. The AFL have already admitted that Vic clubs have lost too much since the inception of the national competition and i think Dimitriou/Fitzy would be more prepared to negotiate with King Richard than Elliott.

The money coming from the state government is conditional on no more AFL games being played at PP. From memory the money is coming from a fund that isn't available to venues that host elite level competitions, or something like that.

There are more hurdles than just the AFL that will need to be overcome for that to happen.

So the gov`t are prepared to spend millions of dollars on a venue that no one will use.Policy can change quickly depending on the current mood.Anyway it may be a few years before we are considered elite.

No, they just allocate a certain amount of money for the development of elite training facilities. It will get plenty of use. One of the conditions they put on access to the money is that it can't be for a venue that hosts top level matches to stop the MCG and the Dome etc trying to get theirs hands on it.

You're right, politicians change their mind all the time, just I wouldn't be holding my breath on this one if I were you.

Anyway, once we come good I hope we're pulling crowds too big for PP (especially minus one stand due to the re-development) even against the interstate teams.
