I'd love to see people's opinions of our current players and their views for the future, so Draw up Carlton's next premiership team. Ok, the rules. Must include a starting 18, interchange, a coach if desired and three emergency players. Must specify time of next premiership. Must have a short explanatory paragraph. Please be brief. You get what I mean, yeah? I'm not doing mine now, I might a bit later. |

OK,I'll give it a go. B- Anderson-Hartlett-Thorton HB-Bower-Setanta-Carrazzo C-Simpson-Gibbs-Waite(vc) HF-Grigg-Kennedy-DAL SANTO F-Fisher-Fev-Edwards R-Hampson-WALKER(c)-Murphy INT-Aisake,Russell,Benjammin,COTCHIN EMERG-Austin,Jacobs,Betts,Scotland Year-2011 COACH-ONE OF-SOS,VOSS,or RATTS Can't really predict who we'll draft thats why i've gone with players on the current list who i think will still be around. I put in Dal Santo, because i think the Swan,Pratt team will lure one big name to the club.We owe the Saints one for Hammil. Cotchin, just a guess. Coach,to hard to choose. Love WALKER as capt.(the next Judd) Tall side, but i think Setanta & Aisake will have revolutionalized AFL in 4 years, with their speed and agility.Impossible to match up on. Am i dreaming? wouldn't mind this side now ![]() |

I haven't included 25 yo and older players as I expect the flag to be won in 2010-11. Here's my under 24 team: B:.......Anderson.....Jamieson....Hartlett HB:.....Thornton......Setanta......Bower C: ......Grigg...........Murphy.......Benjamin HF: ....Simpson.......Waite..........Fisher F: .......Gibbs...........Kennedy.......Hampson FOLL: .Aisake.......Walker.........Carrazzo INT....Jacobs/ Kruezner/Leuenberger...Russell...Austin....Bentick EMERG: Flint....Edwards...Raso..... Probable changes: I haven't accounted for 1st round draftees in 2007, 2008 and 2009 or any trades; trades are welcome....Leuenberger should be back at his spiritual home by then, and add a couple of speedsters ...they could overtake Bentick and Carrazzo. I suspect that Bower and Benjamin are candidates that may be overtaken by others listed on the bench/emerg or new draftees. Out of the picture: I can't see Betts, Blackwell, Jackson, Young, Cloke and Bannister (all under 24) making this team in 2010-11. Outside chance: possible inclusion of Fevola (29-30 yo), Stevens and Scotland (30-31 yo) Coach: ?????? Ratten ???????.......perhaps. Hampson and Aisake are ver agile and athletic types. If Kruezner or Leuenberger (who are aglile and athletic) are listed then the 3 ruckmen/ ruck rovers can rotate...they create great mismatches for the opposition. Focus: Tall, fast, agile and strong, with a couple of fast small midfielders like Murphy and Simpson. plus 3 agile tall fast and versatile ruckmen. |

Flag year - 2010 B J. Anderson S.O'hAipin B.Thornton HB H.Scotland A.Hartlett S.Grigg C K.Simpson M.Murphy (C)A.Walker HF N.Stevens J.Kennedy J.Waite F A.Maaric B.Fevola B.Fisher OB S.Hampson B.Gibbs (VC) T.Cotchin I/C Aisake A.Carrazzo E.Betts C.Benjamin Coach - Ratten/Voss/Buckley Obviously the real team won't look like that as we will have more draftees from 08/09. I've taken a guess at this years draftees and put in the two guys we would draft in the 1st and 2nd rounds in my dream scenario (Cotchin and Maaric). In this mtach Waite will rotate between wing and half-foward, while Cotchin and Stevens will rotate between on-ball and half foward. Also in that year I predict that M.Murphy, B.Gibbs, J.Waite, B.Fevola and T.Cotchin will win All Australian honours. M.Murphy will also win the brownlow with 23 votes with Gibbsy a close second with 19 votes. Waite and Cotchin will both poll 15 votes. Bryce will also win the Norm Smith for an outstanding performance in which he accumulates 33 possesions (20 kicks, 13 handballs), 7 marks, 10 clearances, 6 tackles and kicks 4 goals. Waite will be an unlucky runner up with 23 touches and 6 goals. That year we will also only lose one game to Hawthorn who will end up grand finalists and score on average 120 points while conceding 80. Our Goal kicking table will look like this: B.Fevola - 70 J.Kennedy -51 J.Waite - 50 A.Maaric - 38 T.Cotchin/B.Fisher - 33 Average disposal will look like this: M.Murphy - 26.5 B.Gibbs - 25.8 T.Cotchin - 23.6 N.Stevens - 23.3 A.Walker - 22.8 J.Waite - 22.4 now back to reality ![]() |

Just picking from our current squad: B Anderson, Austin, Thornton HB S. O'hAilpin, Hartlett, Russell C Carrazzo, Walker, Simpson HF Grigg, Kennedy, Fisher F Waite, Fevola, Betts R A. O'hAilpin, Murphy, Gibbs In: Bentick, Stevens, Blackwell, Bower Emg: Hampson, Benjamin, Houlihan Premiership 2013 Our defence has serious issues and there's a lot of hope in my selected team that the kids I've selected for our defense will step up and make it. Anderson looks like a likely type, Thornton is class as we all know and Setanta O'hAilpin can be thrown into defense if we need him. |

WestHam ![]() ... back to Carlton: Team: B: Anderson, Austin, Thornton HB: Scotland, Hartlett, Russell C: Walker, Gibbs, Simmo HF: Grigg, Kennedy, Fisher F: Betts, Fevola, Waite Rck: Jacobs, Stevens, Murphy Int: Cotchin, Carlos, Aisake, Carrazzo Coach: TBC Year: 2010 Notes: Cotchin or Kreuzer are the only draft picks I'd be certain of claiming this year. Still think Melbourne will finish above us. With players from the 2008/2009 crop to come I would have doubts on Carrazzo, Betts, Hartlett, Carlos making the cut. Hampon may sneak in ahead of Jacobs. |

Back last year before the draft, a learned scholar of AFL, Brizzie Blue posted an interesting note on a conversation that included Leuenberger who was at the time hoping to get to Carlton because he is a mad Blues supporter and would love to help dig 'em out of the bottom of the ladder. But he understood why Gibbs should be picked before him. The rest of the story suggests that he believes he will still get to Carlton once he serves his minimum 2 year apprenticeship with the Lions. And Brizzie wasn't joking. I love the thought of it, and have kept my hopes high it happens at the end of the 2008 season; just 15 months away. Of course seeing is believing, and we must plan on him not coming over as we hope. Imagine: Very tall athletic and very fast players (ruck-ruck rover freaks)....lots of them......the mismatch trump card. Aisake 202 Hampson 202 Leuenberger 203 Kruezner 201 Setanta 199 Waite 194 To compliment our mobile talls: Kennedy 198 Hartlett 196 Jamieson 195 Austin 195 Bower 193 And fast mobile talls: Thornton 192 Edwards 192 Fevola 191 Fisher 191 Walker 190 Benjamin 190 Grigg 190 Deliciously fast and tall Only 3 spots left if they're all in the 22...lets see...Murphy, Gibbs and...Stevens/ Carrazzo/ Scotland/ Simpson/ Anderson/ Russell? So Leuey and Kruezner would be a perfect fit and hold us in good stead for the 2009-2010 assault, and that dynasty would rule for a decade ![]() |

Our team of superhuman athletes will scare opposition and revolutionise football - assuming it works. If it doesn't we'll be just a tad unbalanced. |

R-EVERITT(6th club)-AKER-P.BELL(vc) INT- McCLAREN,BETTS,BANNISTER,WIGGINS (heart&soul of CFC) Fantastic BOG,by Ryan Houlihan, the Blues fearless warrior like leader in his 400th AFL match. He reached the league record of 10,000 loose ball gets (surpassing vc Peter Bell) and laid his 50th career tackle. Coach Denis Pagan was quoted as saying -"Gee, there's blue skies ahead for the Carlton football club" Despite our success-Tom Elliot (President) was disappointed with the membership figure of 60,000-saying the Pies were a real threat with 32,000 members! And Brizzie wasn't joking. I recall that conversation -- I actually thought it was you who originally made that statement. Hard to believe that it's not pie in the sky stuff though. A lot is often said about high draft picks and teams that they originally barracked for. In the professional and highly paid world of AFL Footballers though you'd have to be pretty bloody determined - and passionate about the club - to get to the club that you supported as a child. And you'd just about have to be prepared to burn the current club to get there too. Hasn't happened yet and I can't see it happening really. Although one can hope |

And that's the reality of the situation. Passion is something not to consider lightly. I'm sure the Lions are aware of his background and would be brain washing him as we speak. Whilst the possibility exists, the dream will exist. The ball is in our court (today and everday for the next 15 months). |

It is 2023 B Silvagni.....Silvagni....Sheahan HB Tully....Koutifides.....Smith C Mcintosh...Agrojunior (c).....Jones HF Lopez.....Muhammed....Nguni F Nguyen...Silvagni.... O'Boru R. Masai.....Chiu....Xchlminc Res. Krlc....Sputin.....Chen....Brown Coach Silvagni We win on the back of the ruckman, Masai, the first African player drafted direct from the desert by Hughes and who at 237 cm is also the tallest player ever to don the navy blue. After each centre bounce, he runs to FB and stands between the posts, preventing any goals from being kicked from outside 40 metres. Just as probable as any of the other posts. And should be taken just as seriously. Predicting the future is fraught with pitfalls. Let's get over this year first. |

No one wanted to come to Carlton between 2003 and 2007; it was a tarnished brand. Now we have the Pratt era...anything can happen.....only way to be is optimistic, as I have experienced many positives for Carlton from his first year. Swan Icke Training facilities revenue from private proceeds record memberships great young list ...........we're going places....the right ones at that........... Princes Park is the place to be. |
