..i think that both Vossy and Ratts will get the playing group going, i've no doubt in that.. ..what i think though, is that with Vossy the players would play for him, with Ratts the players will play for the jumper.. ..i think that the very real passion Ratts has for the club is something that Vossy doesn't have..

Josh, who do you honestly think the club will go for ? Who is leading the race ? Especially with Voss, he has come out and said that Carlton have not spoken to him and that he is not sure whether he wants to coach or not. Seems strange with all the talk going on about him.

When do you reckon they will make a decision also ?

Voss is odds-on ... and shortening (if the market hasn't already closed).

That is, unless we land the "unexpected" .... :-D :-D

What some claim:
Voss as coach was ratified by the board last night
Will be appointed with a mentor- it was a firm condition upon his approval
Everyone was supposedly interviewed over the past 2 months- McKenna, Bond included
Rob Walls played a key part in the interviewing process
Roos as you all know by now was interviewed and politely declined
Worsfold asked to "sleep on the decision" before declining as well

This is the RUMOUR... but as I said in another thread Ive heard it from so many different people now (some very closely associated with the club) it has to have some element of truth...

After reading how we've gone about finding a replacement, I shudder to think what would have happened if Smorgon had been re-elected.

Great work if this rumour is true. :-D

How about David? The Vic Metro under 18's coach..............

Has done the job for a few years and i always enjoy watching the boys respond to him. He seems to be a great communicator and nobody gave them a chance in hell last year and they won it easilly!

Just a thought?

Do we need a coach who needs a mentor?....what is it with this mentor fascination?
Parkin was mentor to Schwab and that didnt work......I'm think we need a coach who knows what they are doing and has the confidence in their own decision making.
I dont want Voss if he is just a puppet having his strings pulled by somebody like Grant Thomas for example...

David "This guy here is the best guy I have coached in my career, ignore what I said last year, again..." Dickson?

Probably being harsh, but not a fan.

If anyone turns up with Danny frawley as a mentor, I'm leaving town.

BTW Josh, You should speak to your nominated 'interviewer'. I suspect you'll find that your mail is news to him.

Lets get the best coach for Carlton.
In my opinion, by any realistic assessment, it cannot possibly be Voss.

He'll learn from that

But, what's good for us may not necessarily be good for others, and vice versa (I presume you mean the best coach in the league, rather than the best fit for Carlton).

I think the days are gone where a coach can completely structure a list to his liking in an acceptable time frame, mainly due to the draft system in place and no free agency to better adjust to needs.

So long as that's in place, we need to target coaches who can provide a system of play that best suits our needs, and that may not be a recognised star coach. I hope this factors into the process that they're going through at the moment.

If it's as reported (unlikely), the search seems a bit low-tech and small scale for the magnitude of the task, not that I want a mass-scale job search like the one St Kilda harped on about last year either.

Voss is a certainty. Pratt is the only person who can afford to pay the assistants who have been linked with Voss

Brittain
Thomas
Frawley
McCrae
Scott
Lambert
Sheedy?

And Im pretty sure there are a couple I've missed :-D

A pretty accurate article IMO and a good read.

Voss key to coach race - Caroline Wilson
Quote:
Chris Bond, who reportedly ticked every box as the "process" progressed, was deemed unlucky to miss out.

Quote:
Pratt has entrusted his chief executive Swann, football directors Kernahan and Adrian Gleeson and football operations boss Stephen Icke to chose Carlton's new coach

HELP! :?

Sticks will get Voss and use him to rebuild his reputation after being found wanting in the off-field side of the game.

I hope Essendon* get Voss.
