Just reported on 3AW by Robert Walls that Cain Acland actually has a two year deal with Carlton and the 3rd year of his contract only kicks in if he reaches certain levels of KPI's such as how high he finishes in the BNF. He found out through someone from the club. This should make for good news for all those who thought he wasn't worth recruiting.

Still it is a very expensive investment to play a man short every week.

If it's true....yes.

I thought he played OK in those wins this year but......you've got to keep putting in to survive; especially when you're an undersized ruckman.

The most disappointing thing for me, is that his worst game for the club (Hawks) followed immediately after his best game for the club (Port).

If this 2/3 year deal stuff is on the money, well, at least that's something.

2 years is much much much better than three.

I heard the same comment. I must say that I was smiling all afternoon. Honestly, we would be better off recruiting another kid than an old hack. In a few years we will be rid of Teague, McLaren, Saddo and Ackland, but which hack will we have on our list then? :roll:

Still people pop up with the word expensive.

All we know is he got a three-year contract. And now it seems it's one with many string. Jesus.

If he's only locked in for next years salary cap and not 2009, I'd be tempted to pay him out at seasons end and retain McLaren for another year.
Ackland's hopeless.

It's a three year contract with an option for the final year to be voided if conditions are not met...

Thanks for sharing that bit of good news FenZy.

Ackland will make his own bed.

His gutless efforts will prove his undoing.

So wakey wakey Sugar, hands off snakey; we've got the spotlight on you; you can't hide.

Lets find out where he's at. Lets see if he can compete in the Ants. :wink:

Ackland is a disgrace.
No intensity, no real skill and we offer a 2 year deal.
Amazing what goes on down at Carlton sometimes...what are they thinking??

With any luck that last line should now read, "what were they thinking?".

Hmmm ... what were they thinking?

Maybe they were thinking that:
* French had retired;
* McLaren was going to struggle with injury;
* Bryan would not re-sign;
* Archie was on the brink of retirement;
* Aisake wouldn't be ready for a year or so; and
* there weren't many young ruckmen who'd be realistic targets.
