I remember a club that we all viewed as a rabble (they've recently proven us right  ) sacking M Capuano mid season for his totally lacklustre performances. I thought this was a strong move and for me showed they wouldn't accept poor efforts. Does this send the right message and should we send Ackland in the same direction?

you can't do it midseason.

just play him in the 2's for the rest of the season and pay him out.

you're both forgetting that last week he beat Brendan Lade (one of the best ruckmen in the comp) rather convincingly.

Stick with him, he's no world beater but he'll give us a few games until Hampson is ready to come up and until Carlos learns his way more.

Ackland is a HUGE disappointment but getting rid of him is not the answer. He just needs to be partnered with Aisake perhaps and not Setanta. Setanta was mauled on Friday. We need him back in defence and to stay there.

Cain (unfortunately) will need to be persisted with because it simply isn't an option to send him to the 2's and get rid of him. We dont have the cover

In regards to Ackland................

Play him in the Bullants two's..............that's how much he is worth to the Blues at the moment.

Jacobs, Hampson and obviously Aisakie would all be better options than Ackland at the moment. I'll guarantee you that Jacobs will get more than 2 possesions and 15 hit-outs for a game. I'd put money on it that Hampson and Aisakie, despite only playing the game for just on 3 years, would be much more solid contributors to the side than him!

And in all honesty......................Jacobs, Hampson & Aisakie all DESERVE it much, MUCH more than Ackland does.

Dylan McLaren, who i am not a fan of at all, should be back in a few weeks. Hopefully he's fit and ready to go after the break. Bring him in straight away along with Aisakie (Cloke injury promotion).

Play Aisakie & McLaren as ruck team, Setanta to Full Back (but also as back-up pinch hitter).

Jacobs & Hampson to be ruck team for the Bullants seniors.

Ackland to play as SOLO-SOLITARY Ruckman for the Bullants 2's.

I agree Ryan 2000.

And as for his BIG game against his old team...well that game for Ackland was about Ackland, not Carlton. He had a point to prove against his old club. You see, what that proves to me is that it's all about Ackland and not Carlton as far as that 'lout' and conman is concerned.

As far as I'm concerned I have been digusted with his effort since preseason, and one good game against Port tells me that he can do it, but the rest of the time he proves to me that he wont do it for this club and currrent team mates, so here's my line in the sand

DROP: Ackland, Lance (net worth $850K per season)
IN: Aisake Hampson (net worth $100K per season)

Have a guess what the message would be to both of them? And if they didn't improve, then they can stay in the two's till they feel disgraced enough to retire early...and they will. Ackland would retire end 2008 after all the grief he'll cop from Carltonians and the media...no need to pay them out...just banish them in disgrace.

I'm not sticking up for anyone that sponges off this club and thinks of themselves first and the club second, because the club is always bigger than the individual... and we're the biggest...we're CARLTON.

Am I angry, and unBondi-like? Too right I am!! They are a disgrace to my club...this is now personal!!

Shape up or ship out...you're taking the positions of young players that want to play hard contested fast footy for this jumper.

Ackland-196cm
Cloke-196cm
McClaren-196cm

All to flowering short for the ruck.

Enough said :!:

I prefer Cloke over the other two.
Only room for one of that kind of ruckman.

Having our list stiffled with 196 cm ruckmen is why we dont have an extra one or two runners on the list.
It smacks of amateurish list management ...

So who is to blame???

Rubbish. Ackland was servicable but i thought Lade beat him. Brogan was the one that was shit.

The absolute end for Ackland came for me when he failed to even contest a bounce in the Hawthorn forward pocket.

Yep thats right there was a stoppage in their forward line (I can't remember which quarter - but only because I am trying to forget everything about THAT game), the umpire bounced the ball And Ackland didn't even flinch, stood off the bounce about five to ten metres away from the contest and literally WATCHED the Hawthorn ruck have the simplest of touches to a midfielder who could have had a three course meal and still had enough time to kick the goal. Absolutely disgraceful....

Can someone please explain how anybody could do such a thing?

Agree....Ackland negated Lade but I still thought Lade was the best ruckman on the ground and Brogan was woeful which helped Ackland.

I would delist Ackland at the end of the year if we had the finances....

The thread title - a line in the sand - made me think of the line someone came up with regarding Melbourne.

He suggested that Melbourne had to draw a line in the snow

Come to think about it, you could use the same comment if you're talking about the Eagles

Sorry for the diversion. Carry on
