Yep...although I would'nt be suprised if we win more than that now.

I don't like Pagan...he has taken far too long to get these kids to perform...However...as the articles states...he has got it right at the right time.

I believe that Pratt would have told DP that 8 wins is the minimum for him to keep his job and unless another top flight coach is recruited...Pagan will stay.

I think it may also depend on how far down the track they were in finding a new coach. It may be that if someone has already given them some pretty positive signals that they may make a change almost regardless of where we end up this year.

But taking out such an intangible, I always said that I thought Pagan would be safe if we managed seven wins. Perhaps expectations have lifted after the last two weeks, but I'd be surprised if eight wouldn't be enough.

As much as I hate to say I think 6 will secure his job for next year and then 4 from 6 with a good preseason will get him a contract extension .

All clubs seem prepared to except mediocre coaching performances

If we continue to play the attacking footy we will win more than eight.

Eight will be enough on the back of no stand-out candidates.

Depends on the depth of this years draft.

Pick #1 is now out of the question, for example if picks #2 to picks #5 are rated the same maybe finishing 12th will be a good result.

10 wins must be the minimum - anything less than that is not acceptable in my books. There have been far too many excuses over too long a period.

If there is improvement in Gibbs, Murphy etc and we get the right match ups in matches then I think 6 wins out of the remaining 11 matches is a fair target. If not, i would consider a new coach.

IMO win/loss ratio should not be a key consideration when assesing pagan's performance for 2007, this year is about development and improvment.

part of the reason we have had to endure the last 5 1/2 seasons is because of the narrow minded attitude the club previously had. I hope we have moved on.

pagan may go or stay, either way it should not be based on win/loss.

I liked the bit that Niall mentioned in the article that suggests that we hold off for a new coach until the end of Pagan's contract, ie end of 2008, for two reasons.

1. All of the clubs with coaches that contracts expire at the end of year will/could be in the market for new coaches at the end of year (most probable as some have been there too long and those clubs won't renew), so demand and competition will be high, although that may not be a bad thing either.
2. Give someone like Voss or Buckley a chance to serve an apprenticeship at Carlton or elsewhere before offering them a role at the end of 2008.

Im not sure about how many Pagan "needs to win".
However I will give him Kudos for changing the gameplan and allowing the players to play exciting and attacking footy. I think its also quite clear that allowing the players to back themselves has helped in their development. A good example of this is Carazzo, who has been sensational this season. You could also look at the improvements in Waite, Fisher, the ever increasing excitment of Murphy and Gibbs amoung others and I think even the most ardent Pagan haters would concede these players have taken significant steps forward this season. IMO its also reasonable to credit Pagan for being a part of those improvements. Im sure some will say its too little to late, but I would suggest that "Rome wasn't built in a day"....
