Congrats Tbird on 100 games played for the navy blues during the most trying period in the clubs history.

Well done!

Fantastic effort, in the circumstances.

Similar sort of player to Michael Sexton - I rate Thornton a little higher given the trying circumstances he has played under and his better disposal.

Would probably have one of the lowest win/loss ratios of any player to play 100 games for the Carlton Football Club.

You would have to go back to the 1897 - 1902 period to find anyone with a comparable ratio.

Excellent work from the Tbird. Hard working defender and seller of candy like no other

Great stuff. On track to be a 250 gamer for the club.

Shows that with enough talent, application can get you everywhere.

Still remember him trying to rough up Jakovich in the wizzfizz, talk about David and Goliath, he was like a little twig.
Well done Bret, lets hope your next hundred is more enjoyable on field

Great stuff, congrats TBird. As everyone has said, a great effort for someone who has been part of the worst time of our history!

Playing full-back for the worst team in the comp for his first 5 seasons and not only surviving but thriving is testament to the character of the lad.

Congrats T-bird, not sure I've been prouder of any players achievements.

I realise Sexton played with better players around him but I'd take him any day over Thornton.

Nevertheless, good luck T-Bird. Would've been a little sad I think, had you become T-Hawk.

I was talking to a Carlton stats man on the phone the other day and can confirm that is a fact, he has the lowest. Only 23 wins out of his 100 games (assuming we lose  ).

Let's hope by the end of his career he no longer holds that record.

Sexton didn't play on the caliber of opponents Thornton has week in week out. Lloyd, Hall, Tredrea, Richardson, Brown, Gehrig, Reiwoldt etc. Thornton played on all these guys as a teen!
Sexton got the 2nd or 3rd tall and if he managed to get the ball to ground it was cleared in no time with McKay, Christou and Dean sweeping.
Sexton was a good player but the only time I saw Carey play good against us was a pre-season game with SOS out and Sexton was shown up for second tier defender he was.

I'm really chuffed that Tbird re-signed a 3 year deal and hope he plays a blinder on the weekend. A real trooper!

Played his first game in the pre-season against the Eagles and a guy called Judd. Kicked 3goals playing forward, still remember the game as T-Bird showed alot of compusure and class is his little cameo up forward.

Good luck T-Bird!!

On the official site, one report states that Thornton will be playing his 150th game   Then goes on to say that Thornton will become the 150th Carlton player to play 100 AFL games for the Carlton FC.

I think the best part about it is that he came from the rookie list.

What a sensational effort and a tribute to hard working person that Thornton in.

Congrats and I hope we win this weekend for you.

Agro don't have a heart attack here... but I agree with you whole heartedly. Also reminds me of Sexton. Especially when he often out-marks his opponents the way that Sexton did in his hay day.

Cograts T-Bird... one of our most valuable players. Holds the backline together.

Congrats T-Bird.

Not the greatest of positionis to have played in given the pounding we have taken over the past 5 years.

You have been a giant in our backline and for that, I thank you.

The 32 locker at Carlton has never looked so good as it will on Sunday.

Great story too Springsteen.

Onya T-Bird - I hope your next 100 games are easier than your first 100.
