Don't like it.... it looks too much like the AFL site.... almost hard to tell them apart.

Not blue enough.

WTF is with all that white?

Can't the background be blue?

Also, there's more AFL logos on the page than CFC logos.

TC has more of a Carlton feel than that.

I'm not so sure about having the central content on the extreme left with two supporting columns on the right. Kind of a bit off putting, but I can see why they've made the change.

That's because we're independent and don't have anyone telling us what to do.

Still made my browser choke for 3 or 4 seconds during loading.

I'm not sure what causes it, but it was one of my pet hates of the old site and they haven't fixed it.

Boring.

Stylish, yet simplistic design, incorrectly colour-schemed for a predominantly blue team, put together in an overpacked layout.

I'd swap the far right columns around, and take out the player profile & stats boxes from there and place them in the same column as the ladder & fixture stats, possibly culling the player profile section to part of a tabbed stat leaders box.

I'd then cull the picture links down the bottom as well and re-design the menu layout up the top to incorporate them. I'd continue the culling with the events and injuries boxes and make them news tabs (of which there is already an injuries tab).

While the intial design phase could be tedious, it wouldn't be that fundamentally different from the AFL website.

Another thing for the future could be to implement a Bigpond/Content sign in, which leads to a different version of the homepage where you can playback video and audio from the link box on the top right.

Finally, the fact that when you click one of the main menu options on the bar up the top doesn't result in a simple sub-menu change, rather than taking you to a different page is just another example of poor design and construction.

There's plenty of people in the state, let alone the country who can put up a better effort than this. I was kind of alluding to this in a similar thread commenting on the AFL's beta site.

Here's hoping that they're still fleshing out the layout and content and aren't just going to give the same old crap (I'm speaking of Sportal's content there - not the contributors) a new coat of paint.

Visually it's mediocre, and not overly friendly to navigate, but admittedly it still appears to be going through a spit and polish. No BigPond-centric site has ever been any good, though.

Content will be the key, and will ultimately be what the site is judged upon. Currently there is very little incentive to regularly visit the site, so I look forward to seeing what the finished product has in store.

I'd also suggest changing the search engine from a Sensis-based search (ie. scours the site for pages with matching words), in favour of tagging articles with keywords and using that in combination with a few more search options.

Again, something seen in a whole host of major websites, and easily implemented by someone who knows what they're doing.

The standard of web design for sports sites in this country is being stiffled by Sportal's control of the market.

Given some of the errors in content, it's pretty clear that this is still very much a work in progress.

Agree with all of you: this has a LOT of improvement required in it yet. The old Optus version was much better.

Maybe it's the clash site!
