The year started off with Ratts forward, Libba middle, Crosisca back. At the huddles today I noticed a change for the first time! It was: Ratts and Braddles - Middle Corsisca - Forward Libba - Back I suspect that they are doing 3 rotations of 8 rounds for the season. The only thing that was interesting was that this was the first week our forward setup improved - and Fev wasn't the only option. The fact that this improvement in forward setup coincides with the move of Crosisca forward in place of Ratten, does not augur well for the coaching prospects of Ratts IMO. |

Despite all the hype I've yet to see anything from Ratts coaching career that indicates the he's ready to step up as senior coach (other than a good review from Neale Danniher). That said, how our team moves the ball into the forward line has something to do with the midfield I believe. ![]() |

Never understood the appointment of Ratts as a forward coach. Dramatic swing in the spread of attack options and the falling away of the defence's basic skills this week but I doubt the latter occurrence has much to do with the rotation. I reckon we'll need to move on one of Ratts, Braddles & Libba at the end of this year. |

When Ratts was appointed, he specifically mentioned that he wanted to coach the forward line to round out his coaching CV. From the sound of it then, it was probably instigated by Ratts himself. Perhaps the club has now decided to play to their strengths, rather than nuture Ratts in a role that causes us short term pain. |

Perhaps the club has now decided to play to their strengths, rather than nuture Ratts in a role that causes us short term pain. That's just selfish by Ratts. If he is a coach with a weak set of forward strategies, the answer is simple: work to your strengths and identify a forward coach who can compliment you should you get the nod in a senior role. Surely the coaching industry is not so myopic that senior coaches are still required to be proficient coaches in all areas of the ground. |

Or perhaps it augers well for Ratten that he now has the midfield group looking at options other than Fevloa? Just playing devils advocate ![]() |

Huh? So what the hell does a forward coach do, if not construct and oversee the forward setup? He provided the options for the midfielders. |

Voss could be, but Ratten could also. |

I understand what you're saying there, but we're talking about loose options that are always out the back of the congestion. These are young players and their vision isn't consistently on that level, so all well and good that Ratts had blokes in space, but it needs to be presented to those charging down the field in a manner they can absorb and execute correctly through. |
