I'm as depressed as the next guy ,however,i would like to focus on 3 positives so far this season:

1-Fev-off field behaviour is/could be a worry, but onfield he has been a star.He has become more consistent, and his effort against the Roos when injured was 1st class.Would've dropped his bundle in seasons past.

2-Scotland-has picked up the slack since Stevos injury and is quickly becoming an elite midfielder.

3-My new favourite player-Carrazzo-he has improved out of sight.Kicking could still improve,but he's tough,courageous,and gives 100%.

Remember we only want positives on this thread, already to many negatives for the year to date. :-D :-D :-D

Carlos has improved...

Fisher looks like the perfect 2nd tall... Great Hands and very flexible around the ground

Carrazzo IMO is currently our number 1 midfielder yes he has a lot of uncontested possie but he also wins his fair share of contested possies (I think 10 on the weekend)

Blackwell also looks the goods.

An Honourable mention to Walker and Murphy who just need consistency to become Blue chip players..

Fev = Superstar

PS we all know Kennedy, Gibbs, and Edwards will be very important to the future set up of Carlton with or without Pagan…

I have enjoyed the fact that they have been playing some fast flowing, attractive football and although the skills and fitness aren't quite there yet i think it will benefit the young players down the track.

The style of game we're playing this year is the right way to go.

We all saw it last year against the Weagles and now it's standard,

Regardless of the fact that we're running out of gas in the last quarter in 2007, last year we were running out of gas at halftime.

Little steps closer to a 4 quarter effort...and you can see it with your own eyes we will get there...it's called progress.

Setanta is a great contributor. What may didn't see on TV was his harassing and running through opponents throughout the game when the ball was at the other end of the ground. He let them know that he's not one to stuff around with.

At one stage Leigh Brown approached him to retaliate and realised that Setanta is the real deal, not one to stuff around with, and he walked away. This is where it starts...I'm talkin' about respect.

The team were really entertaining, and so what that they lost this one...we're heading in the right direction...we're kicking goals...20 of them and Fev only kicked 5...that's a good sign of things to come.

Both Fish and waite are freaks,,,that's a good thing.

Carrots got under my skin at times with his kicking, but he is tough as nails. Scotland is also tough as nails. Fev is as tough as nails. Simmo is as tough as nails, Bentick is as tough as nails, Blackwell is as tough as nails...the boys want it badly....better than last year...miles better.

I'm happy with the progress and can't wait till the kids like Murphy, Walker, Russell, Kennedy, Edwards, Aisake, Hampson, Grigg, Benji, Ando...all step up.

This squad will make a great team in a couple of years....yep, I'm talkin' finals and flags!

The biggest positive so far is that after 8 rounds, we are on the way to the PP.

Yep, it's great to see the boys given the chance to play one-on-one footy. Any footballer worth his salt would love the challenge of beating a direct opponent. That's what footy is all about.

You can see the passion of the players in the way they don't give up.

Good post Bondiblue. And good thread Mark J. A great break from the usual drivel we have to wade through :-)

He's one of these one-issue guys, Mark J. All he can think about is a priority pick. Hopefully we can put him out of his misery soon.

HAHAHAHAH!!! You know what...BOTH!!!

I cant see why we cant play our games against interstate clubs at Princes Parl instead of Telstra Dome. We only need 15,000 fans in attendance to break even.

I know, I know - I'm a shocking bright sider.... unashamedly.
BUT - I take great heart from what I saw in the first half (before I had to take two tired girls home) and what I watched on TV.

1) The spirit was there - there were a couple of times in the first half where we looked like we might have lost the advantage, but every time we came back.

2) The support was there - The telecast did not show it, but when we here heading to the Kanga's cheer squad end in 2nd and 4th quarters, the roars were deafening.... I thought we had a good little enclave of supporters in the Northern / Scoreboard end during the first quarter - and the noise from the Southern end was fairly loud - but when we ran to that end the crowd erupted, and I actually figured the first goal of hte 2nd quarter was a miss, because it was louder than Norths' cheer squad...

3) The attitude about Carlton is 1000% better this year - at least 3 of our games have been described by non Carlton media using terms such as pulsating, or exciting - compared to last year when games were described as dour and disgusting.

I think Setanta has exhibited the mongrel down back, and I hope we get another ruck option to allow him back there -because when he's there, we look the most composed we've been in "D" for ages....

Plus - my girls are still raving about the game, so maybe sometimes - just the fact that it is Carlton having a real dig is good enough for lots of us!!

Simmo has 7 goals this year, including two bags of 3 in rounds 6 and 8. I thought he might have picked up few more singles in the other games, but this is a good sign nonetheless.

We have been in winning positions in six games

People carry on like we have been completely horrible, but with some better decision making and bit of luck we could of had 2-3 more wins.
