Lets keep things in perspective people. Kangaroos are one of the in form teams of the comp, and we kept coming at them. Fev on one leg, Betts off and some rubbish free kicks that cost us goals, and we only just lost. Dont get me wrong im dirty... but we are going ok.

Remember people saying they did not mind loosing as long as we play kids, are competitive and play direct attractive football? Some of the drivel here.....

But must say that it is frustrating that we loose games wehen we are in a winning position.... lost my confidence in DP....

Good post lads. Agree 100%. It's hard not to get emotional when we love the club as much as we do. BUT, we are moving forward. A new coach, a new game plan, more games and preseasons under the belt of the youngsters and we will come on. No doubt. We have some real talent there, just not using it as effectively as we could.

Now what next....
- Hartlett needs a go... I would even bring him in before JK, because we know JK will make it. We don't know as much about Hartlett.
- Settle the backline. Santa back to half back or full back. Houla pushed no where near the last line.
- Patience ... Sake will come on, just needs to learn more. Hopefully he gets a go sometime this year. Look at that tall dork running around for the roos (#1)... he took 4 years to play the sort of footy he's playing now.

We've lost 5 on the trot and we were outplayed lastnight by a team with list that has a similar amount of senior and developing players.

We started preseason earlier than a lot of these teams and played more preseason games, so logically our form and fitness will be at its greatest in the first half of the season.

Being realistic, our next winnable fixture is against Melbourne in 6 matches time. We'll go into that game at 2 and 11 after two straight years of wooden spoons.

I think it's good that supporters stick by their club and players at times like these, but if anyone at the club has the attitude that what is being dished up is anything barr a complete discrace, then we're further away than I think we are.

Hmmmmmmmmm, i'm not so sure.

No Wells.
No Archer.

We should have won this game.

We're sitting 3rd last with just 2 wins on the board. We've won less that 10 games in 2 & a half seasons....................we're better then that!

the Kangaroos are shit. We beat them in teh NAB Cup up there. Same with Brisbane, but come the real season we lose.

sack Pagan now. Carlton is going nowhere.

lost opportunities -

should have beaten Brisbane

should have beaten Collingwood

should have beaten Kangaroos

that would have us with 5 wins - all hypothetical of course !!!

obviously we can't sustain 4 quarters of pressure footy, we need more endurance in our legs & more determination, someone made a point before about the Kangaroos getting 100% out of their players for the whole game, i agree, we need the same commitment - no excuses

i believe our team is heading quickly in the right direction but we need to be a lot tougher for the entire game week in week out or we will lose a lot more games that we "should have won"

The Kangaroos are not shit. They are playing with all they've got for their very existence. I think its because we ARE closer than we have been for a few years now that it is more frustrating than ever. Because we are daring to believe once again. Because the kids are showing us glimpses of whats to come.

Pagan is not a parasite. he is a bloke who has been a great cocach for a long time and I am sure is trying his hardest. Maybe his hardest isn't enough..then again maybe it is and they really arent quite ready yet...
What if they sack him and we actually get worse.I wrote a post right after the match which was suggesting they are already throwing games..it was in the heat of the moment...I realise it is not the case when I wake up today and the sun is still shining and my mind has already begun to forget and look to next week.

I dont know the answers..none of us do...all I can do is wish and hope and pray that the pain will go away soon...because this navy blue heart is aching.

We can't really blame the umps they were bad for both teams.
The hand on the back rules is bullocks. To many soft frees.

lets keep it cool. I'm very happy with our progress so far.

We are playing our kids and they are getting invaluable experience.

We are playing a good brand of footy and have been extremely competitive. We are DEFINITELY on the way up with PAGAN at the helm.

We have a good bunch of talented kids coming through.

Although we have not been winning, fact is we have improved out of sight from last year and you can't expect anymore than that, especially when we have young bodies and leges playing in the team. So be PATIENT! Our best midfielder is out, our ruck stocks are low and now we potentially have lost Eddie, our best pressure forward. So be PATIENT!

Sure, we all love for them to win and finish off matches, but I'm sure DP & co and the team wants it more than us, so as supporters, lets support them and stop eating our own!

Looking forward to next weeks game.

We've improved heaps from last year, just can't finish off yet. It will come.

So how do we compared our "improvement" with that of Hawthorn??

They were clearly as bad as us a few seasons ago.

Same useless older passengers...

Same lack of leadership

Same draft picks...

Same turmoil behind the scenes...

Yet, we are now at opposite ends of the ladder.

Hawthorn only won 4-5 games last year and it has been said by many we are about a year or two off them in terms of list development.

But many last year were praising the Hawks for their attacking footy, despite them losing all the time.

No one wants to lose, but unlike in previous years, many of these games were winnable - because we didnt capitulate like before.

This is a sign of growing strength and ability, and not a sign of withering away on the vine with a list full of has beens.

The question now is, who is best to harness, blend and nurture this new potential from here?

Is it Denis Pagan, or is it someone else?
