A small snippet in today's Mx afternoon newspaper here in Melbourne suggests that Carlton & Hawthorn will play in the first Good Friday AFL game to be held during the day. Apparently all over chat forum's this afternoon ![]() Thoughts? Maybe Hutchy will reveal tonight on Footy Confidential? Mods - not sure if you want to merge this with a previous thread on this topic, if it exists. |

Kennett was flagging this idea in an interview with Phil Cleary, shown at half-time on ABC's VFL match of the round. Made mention of Carlton as a solid choice long-term to share the fixture with. Given that the interview would have been recorded during the week previous, this isn't exactly true rumour mill stuff and is half-arsed journalism. Then again it's a half-arsed paper. Anyway, he was proposing a late afternoon or evening match, and you'd have to assume some of the gate's receipts would go to the Children's Hospital. This idea has legs. |

Something to watch on the 2nd most boring day of the year, after xmas. NO WAY! X-Mas is tops! You drink heaps, then you eat heaps, then you drink some more, then you sleep cause your all tired from the drinking and eating, then you drink some more and eat the left overs. Jesus Rocks!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Anyway, i'd love for this to happen. I was kinda hoping it would be Richmond & Carlton going for the good friday games, but as long as we're involved it's all good. I know many people are against it, but id kinda like to see us play 1 or 2 Monday Night Games next year. Monday night football is great for TV, but not so much as a spectator sport. But Carlton fans always seem to rock up...............even when we're crap! If nothing else, it will get us ratings and that's important for us & our sponsers and whoever else wants to jump on board! |

Just relax everyone. This is no Anzac day. easter Monday would be a far bigger deal. Good Friday won't be a blockbuster. |

I prefer no games on Good Friday [Carlton playing or otherwise] and as the Spew has stated many times in the past, he is not a fan either. Can't see it getting off the ground. |

I don't realy care one way or the other, but I think CC and Buzzaaah's concerns are valid. I don't think this will touch the impact that Anzac day has. |

A lot of people will take advantage of that to head from interstate to the 'g'. There's only one way to tell if this will be a success or not - play it and let the people decide. |
