That's why Denis is coach and not you! :D

On paper, looks a balanced team with T-bird back and the experience of Campo.

Am happy to see T-bird back and I'm sure he is fully up to the task!!!

GoBlues!!!

I think Denis is far too straight forward a coach to waste time with wanky mind games like naming, and then not playing, Thorton. What would be the point? It's not as if Connolly's going to go "Oh well T-Bird's in, I won't play Pavlich then". I mean seriously....

T-Bird will play.

I just think Archie is a ruckman and a forward, and not a defender.
His defence work isn't too flash hot as evident last weekend.
No doubt Archie will play defence this week if Longmuir and Sandi switch from the forward line into the ruck.

If we had brought Bryan in, it would allow Archie to play his natural game.

Absolutely Phoenix, Archie has to stay forward to stretch Fremantle's defence to the limit.

Yep.
What annoys me even more is that Bryan wasn't even named in the emergencys.
If TBird doesn't play, Bannister will come in.
If Banno isn't right, Eddie comes in.
If Eddie isn't right, Simmo comes in.

This game would be perfect from Chris.
Sure he would most likely line up on that big bastard Sandi, but at least he would be able to show what he could do when the pressure is on.

Just struggling to comprehend some of the selections lately.

Denis is thinking for the long term and is trying to build a culture of reward for effort.

We think we are already there because we won 10 games in 2004 and the Wizard Cup this year - still a lot of work to do.

I think in the whole scheme of things that Denis wouldn't care if we only won 8 games this year as long as he knew our attitude was better, we were following team rules better, werent getting flogged by 100 points.

He will also have a clear view of who else has to be culled from the squad and who else he has to recruit.

Our view of unbalanced Team Selections in Round 5 - dont really count for the big picture that Denis is painting.

I agree with all that you said, Aggers but I just think that is was a silly decision not to include Bryan in the emergencys let alone the first 22.

But then again, perhaps he doesn't rate Sandi?

It is hard for many of last seasons regulars to get a run, let alone Bryan.

Bryan has got to earn his spot just like anyone else on the list. It is now harder than ever to try and make the 22.

If Denis thought Bryan's form warranted selection then he'd pick him. Just don't think the big fella is quite ready for the big stage yet.

I reckon Denis thinks Bryan is not much chop (at this stage).

Just a question for comment which I think is relevant to this thread - does Port's loss to Geelong tonight devalue our drawn result against them last week, ie. are we getting ahead of ourselves?? or does it mean we on a par with Geelong given their is only a kick in it.??

What do others think?? :?

AGRO, if we got the run Geelong do with the umpires each and every week we'd be on the top of the ladder right now. Their corrupt win doesn't devalue our draw. I liken it to Essendon*'s win over the Hawks

What's the big issue with Bryan not being included in the 25, after all I doubt any of the emergencies will play anyway. The reason we played well last week was that we had fresh legs on the bench and started to have the rotation we had during the Wizzard Cup.

If anything I don't think we need to include Bryan we need another runner for the rotation of the bench. Big ground, lot's of space we need to ensure we have fresh legs post half time especially as this is our second interstate game in a row and the players may feel it after half time.

I thought Port got the home town umpiring decisions all except that last one where the umpires thought they had better even up abit....
Everything 50/50 went Ports way in the first half.
