Right, so we've run out of legs in the last two games against Brisbane and the Saints. This after a wet slog and flight to Perth to take on the Eagles.

I'm not liking losing, and I'm not liking the fadeouts we've been suffering in the last few weeks. Hopefully with an 8 day break this week to take on the Filth we can rectify this.

Paul Ford, you are our conditioning controller - make sure the boys can run out a full 4 quarters, not 3 and a bit. It's the bit we can't run out that is killing us.

From fitness comes confidence. From confidence comes revealed ability. From revealed ability comes wins. We need wins.

What rubbish - a few weeks ago we were praising ford when we were over running richmond and Essendon* and also when we were flying in the NAB cup

Now we have a few losses and you question and demand from him?

Not his fault we have no gameplan - not his fault our players chase tail all game like headless chooks cos they have no idea what they are meant to be doing.

It may look like we have run out of legs - but dont buy into Pagans assesments and statements - hes just deflecting the blame as usual

I've been having a think about this too.

From what I can gather, because of the heavy schedule over the last 3 rounds, we have had a couple of light weeks on the training track, which is good.

I am more concerned with our use of players on gameday. I'd really like to see how much game time each player got on Friday night because it seemed to me that there were a few players that barely got out there at all.

Ford only has control of the players during the week. I think our bench rotations need to be addressed, and this falls to the coaching staff.

I'm sick of seeing our ball carriers like Simmo Walks and Scotland running themselves into the ground each week, while young fresh players like Anderson are left to sit on the pine. Likewise, with positional rotations, what's wrong with putting Gibbs on a wing for half a quarter rather than leaving him deep in the backline for the whole game?

Paul Ford can only do so much. Our coaching panel needs to come to grips with the way modern footy is played.

14 possies in 42 minutes is great by Blackers. Hope he gets more gametime this week.

so bentick and blackwell split game time and ando played a half

yes we are down with injuries - but no rotation is to blame - not paul ford

walker and simmo playing the whole game is a joke - no wonder they get tired !! also houla and scotto not much rest at all

More of a mind problem than fitness IMHO...some of our blokes gave up chasing and running hard. They are not motivated...no leadership and no spark to ignite some passion except for Fev....

I saw Waite pushed off the ball by Reiwoldt and then failed to tackle Milne I think it was in the same passage of play.....he didnt go hard enough or have the spirit....couldnt be bothered with a second effort, nothing to do with fitness..
Chad Cornes would have got Milne and buried him into the turf and had the trainers looking for Reiwoldts collarbone because he has some pride and plays with the passion required to be an elite player.....
Waites attitude is noone else is doing it or showing the way so he couldnt be bothered either...thats your problem.......

Thats why I dont want Anderson dropped or Santy.....they still keep having a go....might be inept at times but they havent thrown the towel in.....

Thanks DUC. That illustrates my point very well. Scotland 97mins, Simmo 99mins and Walks 100mins. I would argue that in the absence of Stevo, these three are our most important run-and-carry players.

After 3 games in 12 days (with probably maximum game time) these blokes tired in the last quarter. Why weren't they given a chop out?

I think we really need to become a lot smarter about how we use our players.

DUC dont most games run for about 120 mins - so are these figures minutes or % of game

it's % of game time, and when read next to stkilda's it just reveals what we've known for a long time regarding our inability get a proper rotation working. Our list is pretty much divided between those who play full games and those who play a half, while Stkilda are closer to a 75% onfield spread across their team.

It's why in the pre season we've always looked better...bigger bench, more rotation...hello...hello??...HELLO???

I don't mind seeing our key position players being on the field for 100 min. The likes of Calros, Fev, Thorton, Waite, We need to keep the structure through out the game

But all the mid-field should be rotated Simmo, Sctotland, Walker, and the likes should not be playing out near 90min

Please don't burn out the players Pagan or else it will be a very bad second half to the season

% eh, that means it was a virtual 30+ possession game from Blackers.

Do you have the Saints numbers as well? It would be interesting to compare.

There's also a link between fitness and time in the system IMO. You can't expect guys who are still developing physically and have only been in the system 5 minutes to run out 4 quarters like those that have been in the system 4 or 5 years.

We need to wait and see Ford's results over a number of years, not just over 6 months. 13 players with less than 50 games experience gives you a good insight into both the experience and physical development of the team.

We need patience.
