For those of you who honestly think that Adam Hartlett should be in the seniors you are kidding yourselves. I have watched him play many times and he looks lost. Against the Werribee Tigers he lacked a presence up forward, lacked intensity, just seemed to gallop around without much zest. People talk about his kicking being great. It's not great, yes he is a long kick but not an accurate one. He is not ready and seriously there isn't anything there to suggest he will make it. He needs to impact VFL footy first before he deserves a spot in the seniors. To be honest not many players impressed enough in the Bullants side to warrant a senior spot. Hampson is a long way off. Looking at him you can tell he is new to the game of Aussie Rules. To pick him up at pick 17 in a super draft was a massive call, hope it pays off. Bower picked up a heap of footy in the first quarter, but you wouldn't call any of his possessions damaging. He just seems to waltz around and runs in circles. All of them were uncontested, so nothing to really excite. What is Bower's position? When they play him back he creates, but he is as loose as a 2 dollar hooker. Aisake O Hailpin is a great athlete, but his foot skills as you would expect is not up to standard. Most, if not all of his possies missed the target. Flint is struggling at the minute, Austin did ok for his first run in the VFL seniors and Jamison did a few good things to suggest he might have a future. The players that should be next in line for a senior spot will have to be Edwards & Blackwell Edwards looked ok, like the way he presents. For me is way ahead of Hartlett. Nice mover and physical with the way he goes about it. Blackwell isn't setting the world on fire but you would think he deserves ago ahead of the above mentioned. His lack of pace and foot skills are a concern, but at least he has the points on the board in the VFL. Wouldn't mind seeing Benjamin in the Bullants seniors next week. Did kick 4 in the ressies, without a mention in the best. First game, good effort. I am however concerned about his kicking. They way the game is played in 2007 and will be played beyond, foot skills are paramount to the success of a side. You turn it over you will pay. |

excellent post! I agree, expecially about Bower, Hartlett at least has a bit more strength and could possibly get a game IF we are forced due to injuries, but Bower looks pretty dis-interested |

I actually disagree with both of you. I haven't watched any bullants games but keep an eye on stats from the games and who is in the best/kicking goals etc ... and he seems to be in the best 5 every week. When he played in the NAB Cup he looks good and strong and looks ready to me. Maybe its something that I'm missing from not being at the actual bullants games but I'd say he's more than ready and been really stiff not to be included in the seniors. |

Yeah most of them are obviously duds and should be traded for more senior/mature type players looking for a 2nd chance with a new club. ![]() ![]() |

I watch alot of the Bullants games as well as attend many training sessions and I would disagree with your comments on Hartlett. He needs to be tested around quality players and in quality conditions. Harry O'brien for Collingwood was struggling at Williamstown when he got the call up and he played a great game in the Anzac Day game. I don't know how many games of Adam's you have watched but I hope you are basing your opinion on more than one game. |

I'm not backtracking but Hartlett before Bower for sure, I just don't want to rush him in just for the sake of it. Although he could have a crack in the backline and push Waite forward? |

The roar of a 40 to 50 thousand people in and around the MCG or Docklands can do strange things to a footballer. Could turn them into a quivering mess who cant make a set shot from 30 metres out straight in front - not mentioning any names Jarrad Waite. ![]() Or turn them into a might Colossus eager to stride the stage and make a name for themselves. That sort of atmosphere cant be created at Kramer St or Coburg Oval with a few lonely old drunks and a couple mangy dogs. Give the Hartlett, Bower, Edwards and co a bit of chance on the big stage and lets see how they go. ![]() |

Hartlett would be playing seniors if I was coaching as would Bower. Bower impressed me a lot last season and i cant work out why he is still in the Bullants. He is a good size, mobile and as he showed in his senior games last season he is a very brave player who will put the body on the line.... Hartlett isnt as intense as JK and probably doesnt do the 1%ers like JK but I saw enough of him in the NAB cup to show he has some ability...he is strong, stands his ground well and is a thumping kick. He could be a real weapon up forward if we could get the coach and football dept to get some structure into the forward line and let some players develop in set positions. Some players just dont develop in the reserves they need senior footy to get the best out of them.... Blackwell is another who has shown he can play.....cant figure out why he cant get a game either ..did well in some senior games last year . Edwards appears a perfect modern age footballer..nice size, mobile, strong mark and attacks the footy well..along with Bower its these size players with agility we should be fastracking... |

AND Fisher & Edwards as mobile tall options. I think if we were to play Hartlett we would need to play only 1 ruck and use JK (or Hartlett) in the relieving role.... ie, JK to take the centre bounces and Whitnall to ruck round the ground etc. |

Id do what you say with the rucks Tyrant but i would bring in another runner. Bower probably and id have Grigg(if he was fit) to replace Jackson. Blackwell instead of grigg. I reckon we are too top heavy. Play kennedy as a ruck/follower. Be Brave ! |

Good stuff Elwood................i actually watch a heap of VFL and local footy.Id take it even further than that Elwood and say that some fellas go sour and go backwards. And if Bower,Blackwell and Hartlett dont get a senior gig soon they will go into a downward spiral.Hartlet will never dominate in the magoos. Why ? coz some blokes just dont.Dont know why,it just happens. And as Agro suggests, some just blossom when given an oppurtunity on the big stage. Hey guys,if it was all about ripping it up in the magoos, then Bannister,Teague and even Digby would be walk up starts in the ones. Wayne Hughes recruited these guys coz he thought they were AFL players.Come on Denis, show some faith in the recruitment guys. |

Us humans are interesting species. I watched the entire game and counted 9 marks for Hartlett mostly between 40 metres out and 100 metres out from goal. Morrell kicks 4 easy goals, 2 running forward of defenders like Matthew Lloyd or Matthew Knights used to do, and everyone acknowledges him as a best player. Hartlett worked hard but his opponent got a lot of possession in the flooding out of the wing. Where was harts - in the guts or leading. Also I thought Edwards showed a lot of promise and that the 2 big men were awesome when they went for it. I wasnt so impressed with Bower or Blackwell but I came away from the game thinking very positively about the Blues future. |

i watch a heap of telly............ and all i see is shit grounds in the VFL... windy.. small..... just crap!!! Hartlett would benefit with playing on good grounds. Apart from Fev the best kick at the club ... Strong. Genuine height. A bit of grunt... easily a better prospect going into the future than Lance... Bring Hartlett in... I think he is in this weekend. Any chance that Hartlett could play CHB and Waite on the wing? We need two talls plus Thornton down back to cover Kosi Gehrig and Riewoldt or would Bower be a better match up with Riewoldt? |
