Never for a second did Waters have eyes for the ball. Watch the replay. See it in slow motion. He turn at the last moment so he didn't hit him face and crunched Lappin. And gets off. What a joke. "Contact between West Coast's Beau Waters and Carlton's Matthew Lappin from the fourth quarter of Sunday's match was reviewed, but no charge was laid. The panel found that Waters had his eye on the ball until two steps before the impact with Lappin when he realised he was about to collide with the Carlton player. No contact was made to the head and the contact was unavoidable, so it was not deemed to be a reportable offence." And Fev is offered a reprimand for sweet f.a. |

Without Byron Pickett charging is so five minutes ago ![]() Strange system Lance Whitnall clocked some points for tripping by hand?? Seriously I didn't think that was even reportable now. Maybe we should ask if they can have another look. |

Just like the hands-in-back rule, the holding the ball rule, the incorrect disposal rule, the sharking the ball out of the ruck rule, etc etc these interpretations not only change from year to year, but from umpire to umpire in the same match, such that what gets called down one end of the ground gets ignored down the other. With so many umpires, rules and interpretations how could they be anything but massively inconsistent. And deny as they might, the umps have their clear favourites. Some players seem untouchable - it's like watching Markus Merk referee the Brazilians - while others cannot seem to take a trick once they get a bit of a bum rap. Poor old Fev, was getting those hands in back frees all throughout the NAB cup, but in the past few weeks he's had nada. |

I reckon he'd get more if he stopped appealing after every contest. |

Hey Blue-Insider, you're the same age as me - can't you remember good old fashion footy? The way it used to be played? That was sensational by Waters...the kind of stuff that inspires your teammates... Now I know full well that they are 'trying' to eliminate that stuff from the game, but the more times they leave hits like Beau Waters one of Skinny alone - the better the game is going to be. I'm sure you were only complaining because the guy who got hit was in navy blue. |

Hey Doc I agree completely - I loved the bumps - but rules for some and not others just aint sitting nicely for me... especially when the skinny fella is targetted! |
