From the article:

"Two goals, 12 possessions, three inside 50s, two hard-ball gets and two loose ball gets, all with the rain still descending, set up the Eagles's early buffer.

And with Judd and Kerr continuing their duel assault on a Brownlow Medal, their early opponents Marc Murphy and Bryce Gibbs were given a lesson in midfield dominance.

Only Nigel Lappin had managed to breach the Eagles' defence in the first term - and odds of $10 on the Blues to mount a comeback were harsh but fair."

Nigel Lappin? Didn't know we had both brothers in the team... top reporting there...

...No mention of dodgy-ass free kicks given in Bris... I mean West Coast's favour either.

Oh well, a very nasty and vitriolic post was on it's way before I noticed this journalistic blunder - I guess you can all count yourselves lucky. :P

Sorry Sparky, they're actually cousins but you're point is taken

Matthew and Nigel Lappin aren't brothers they're cousins.

So much for criticising lax reporting.

If you knew me better, you'd understand I'm notorious for poor form in my posts... and that half the time I post I'm rather inebriated. But you didn't know that and I forgive you.

By the way, Nigel and Matty are brothers - it's just that someone called them brothers when interviewing them both once and they never bothered to correct anybody... :P

I think everyone has propably had a bit after todays loss...

I think Sparkys point was that a proffessional sports journalist shouldnt be making stupid blunders like that, and let alone slip through pass the editor aswell...

The Lappins are cousins. Cousins is a single twin.

Country Victoria can be a little like Tassie at times. The Lappins are from Chiltern and up that way sometimes cousins are really brothers and vice versa. Often they're just not sure and the term "cousins" is used as a catch-all...
