Going by the reports in the VFL section, Setanta played very well in the ruck against Sandy on the weekend. This weekend is important to Carlton. Another chance to go further in the WC and into a Grand Final, whilst also adding members to the club who haven't signed/re-signed with the club. Begs the question....do we play Setanta? Do we need him? Our talls this weekend will be Lance, French, Prender, Bryan and Norman while the Dogs have Bandy, Grant, Darcy, Rawlings, Harris and Hargreaves. Some quality talls in the Dogs contigency of talls. By adding Setanta will we be at an advantage or a disadvantage? Your thoughts? |

I think he needs game time - i'd play him in the reserves so he plays a full game. |

I reckon if Fev got the arse at the 'bunal, Setanta would be cherry ripe for selection. Now that he hasn't gone, it's a different story. Thing is, I reckon we need to find out more about Setanta when he plays at the top level. Last year he played against the Cats and did ok. Had a few goals kicked on him by McCarthy. A year later, he is clearly a better player. More in tune with his skills and what's going on around him. I reckon he needs to be played this weekend. |

Campo is returning. Bryan has found it tough, so maybe Santy is an outside chance.. or maybe Aisake. |

I'd vote for Setanta in for Bryan. Bryan had a few chances on the weekend to go up for a big mark and seemed to sit back; i think he needs a bit more aggression and the best way to reinforce the point is to send him to the 2's. The last thing he wants after 4 years in VFL level is to play more games in the 2's. |

Aisake won't and shouldn't get a run. Not ready yet. Bryan has found it a little tough and I thought he would go a bit better than he has. Probably just adjusting to the AFL standard. Perhaps IN: O'hAilpin, OUT: Bryan??? |

Looks like Deluca will be right. I would imagine that he would come in and Bryan would go back for a full game in the twos. |

I'll preface this by saying Setanta has a future, but not yet! He has come a long way in 12 months but so has the entire playing list. I feel that Bryan should be given another go. What we have to consider is this - is Setanta in our best 28 at the moment? It's down to the business end of the Wizbang Cup and we should continue to pick our best side. I just did a quick check of the avg age of the side that played Melb (22.83 years as opposed to Melb's 24+). With an avg age so young, they need to develop more game time as a unit. Keep training hard Setanta - your time will come! |

Laguna, can you please ditch logic for a while? We need Setanta to play as he's better looking and will appeal to the Irish in society. I want memberships now, not team cohesion DAMNIT |

On that basis Laguna, you'd have to put DeLuca in this weekend. Is easily in our best 28. Haven't read anywhere that DeLuca could be returning this week, though. |

If Deluca is fit - I'd play him. Please don't compare Deluca with Setanta just yet. Also, don't get me wrong, I want him to succeed, but I also want to win as well. If Setanta continues his good form with the Bullants, then he will win promotion on merit - not as a publicity/marketing stunt. How many extra winning the WC give us? |

I'm not comparing DeLuca and Setanta. If we are to take out Bryan, it'd be silly to take out a tall for a small. I disregarded DeLuca as I thought he was still on the sidelines injured. Next option...Setanta. Setanta won't be picked for some publicity stunt. Denis isn't that stupid. |

Bryan needs a full game so I'd take him out this week and de Luca in unless he's not ready in which case I'd play Setanta!. Probably Eddie also out for Campo just to give both eddie and Bryan full games befoere the real season begins. |

Interesting selection re: Betts, Danny. Hasn't done enough for yours? |

Very keen on seeing Setanta getting a run this week. A tall player crashing around up forward and being able to help out in the ruck will be handy, especially given the tactics I think the Dogs will be employing this week. PLAY SETANTA! (and build an ark ![]() |
