How we going to go?

Weather Channel long term forecast thinks it's going to rain but probably be 25ish.

I feel less confident than I did tonight but I tell you what if we play with the same intensity...

They're a very talented group; but very poorly coached

We're a very good chance IMO

Good chance I reckon.

Had a good look at Freo today and they were very poor.

I think the key to this game will be our backline.
We need to go man on man with them the whole way and as soon as that ball hits the deck in our backline, we need our runners to swoop and run it out of the backline.

Their delivery into their forward line today as woeful and I reckon if we hassle, chase and tackle them all day, the rest will take care of itself and we will win.

I don't know how much you can look into Freo's performance today and their away performances in general; they'll come out a lot better next week at Subi, this is almost a given. At times they can be two different sides, home and away. They were also missing a number of key players today, which probably wouldn't have affected the result but wouldn't have made it look so bad.

It'll be difficult for Carlton to reproduce the same intensity as that displayed against the Power. It's not that we can't do it again, but last night would have taken a fair bit out of us. It's a big ask of a side to go to Adelaide one week and back it up with a trip to Perth, no matter who it is.

Subi is also a big ground and we've been exposed on it in recent times for pace. This time around we have more pace in the side though which will help us. Freo's midfield is their trump card and the number of quality midfielders is amazing. They just lack a real target up forward to which to kick. Medhurst and Farmer will cause us problems as usual, one of them will probably kick 6 or 7. However they don't really have a tall, imposing forward line which will negate the absences of Thornton and Livingston.

I'd maybe bring in Bannister to play on Pavlich as I thought he did well on him over there last season. Then Karl Norman can take Longmuir which might not be such a bad matchup. I think Fev should be able to kick a few, Stevens and Kouta should have better performances as well as Deluca.

I think we're capable of winning but it will be a bloody tough ask.

I reckon we'll try our guts out after the last two weeks, but in the end Freo will run our legs off (over there in the warmer weather and on a harder ground).

I think it will be a great game & haven't felt this confident going to Perth for a long time.

I'll be at the game, some reason I am a Freo member.

Anyway, it will be a lot tougher for your mob, as Freo are generally a heap better at home, but their coach is an idiot.

You need to cover Pavlich, as he can be very dangerous on Subi, and Medhurst and Farmer will have at least one play well. Chances are, Hadrill may not play again, and if he doesn't it is the perfect chance for Fevola to take advantage of either Parker or Thornton. He will be the key to your chances.

Freo, while having a better midfield, crumble when the pressure goes up, so if your tougher midfielders such as McGrath apply a little pressure to Headland, Schammer and the likes, they will have little to no impact.

Today, the Dockers were exposed by a better coach in Wallace as a bunch of frontrunners, and some of their better players weren't interested in getting a little roughed up.

Should be a very interesting game.

Medhurst and Haselby are usually the ones that bury us. Wouldn't be surprised if Karl gets a gig on either Medhurst or Farmer - he did the job on Matera last year and may get a similar gig.

It is a tough ask, but we have the youth and enthusiasm. The key is in the mindset. We have very little leeway for not being totally switched on for the whole game.

I assume if Thornton plays next week (as many are suggesting), then surely he'd have to get Pavlich. That would leave Norman for Medhurst and Carrazzo for Farmer.

WIll be in Perth for another wedding... tossing up whether to go or not. Last time I went to Subi it was against the Eagles... Matera kicked 6 on Franchina, Judd announced himself to us by annihilating Campo, Red took 18 marks and a young Angwin kicked 2 to make the best players. Think we lost by 118?

Abit gunshy about turning up this time!

I think we need to have a player do a Brodie Holland on Farmer. By that I mean to get under his skin, niggle him, make him concentrate on anything but the match. And if our guy can get a few possessions and link in with the half-back flankers and take the ball away quickly, all the better.

We need to cover that scrotum Medhurst.

Pavlich, whilst a good player, is weak and selfish, and his coach lets him be. We need a player to take him out of position and into territory he feels totally out of sorts.

If we can do those things, and play as hard at the ball as we did during the WC and last Saturday, we'll get up. Maybe not by much, but we'll win.

sometimes i wish we still have Uncle or the Pup :( as it is i reckon carrots will get the job and run The Wife Beater of his feet as carrots covers a fair bit of the ground.

Wouldnt mind seeing Norman on Medhurst if T-Bird is and can take Pavlich

Relaxed approach anchors Freo

The loss to Richmond was its seventh in eight games: the last four of 2004, three of the first four this year.

The Dockers kicked seven goals from 338 possessions on Sunday. That's not football; that's water torture. They are averaging 70 points a game this year, the lowest in the competition.

Theres hope for us yet ! if we maintain the midfield pressure were in with a very good chance..... :D

wasnt Port Adelaides Average something like that as well ?

All i want is 4 quarters of good consitent football - and in the end we should win, but if we play 4 good quarters and lose then so be it.

Yes it was Prez.

Normally I'd love the content of the article but their forward line has hurt us in the past. Medhurst, Pavlich (last year) and the tall forward line could all hurt our chances - for example, if they pick Sandilands and played him forward like Williams should have done the other night, it will be very difficult to match up on him. Medhurst has beaten Lappin in the past, but perhaps a harder tougher (maybe I mean bigger) player might be better against him - say a Sporn, Wiggler or even Bowyer. Pavlich will play possessed after the rocket he's good but hopefully that means he runs out to the wings and gets a kick.
