These losses will long be forgotten in 2 years time but the 2 young guns we pick up in the draft will be remembered for 10 years to come.

Ask anyCollingwood supporter if they regret TANKING against the Kangaroos 2 years ago (when they conceded 3 goals in the last 2 minutes). That defeat is long gone yet Dale Thomas will be around for quite some time.

WAKE UP AND REALISE HOW THE SYSTEM WORKS!!!

Also pal, Collingwood did it when their list was half decent, ours resembles a train wreck!!! Was almost comical watching Paul Bower today, if he can get a game perhaps there is still hope for me yet!!!!

Ok, please explain to me what difference it will make!!!! From what I saw today, we need a whole lot more than what 2 x 18 yo kids can provide!!! Your theory is ridiculous if you really believe that winning no more than 4 game this year will make us a power for the next 10 years!!!

Bower looked a little lost at times, but playing as a loose man in a defensive manner is foreign to him, he'll get better.

Loved his courage backing into the pack as well. Runner tried to take him off, but he refused to go off.

Great stuff Paul!!

Mate, Linchpin and I were watching him today, coming down the outer wing as the loose player, at least thats what I think he was trying to be, Melboutrne had half a dozen possessions down the wing and wasnt able to get to one of them, just kept trying to get there, then not making it, retreating and trying again. He might as well have not ben there. Also with Bower, he seems to run with everything he has got and not go anywhere, about as quick as Barb!!!

Why would you write a player off in their second year?

Carlton's Problems, written by the omniscient couchcoach.

Player attitude
Player confidence
Structure and plan
Coaching style
Depth and balance of list.

Attitude, confidence, structure/plan and coaching style could be shanged within six months if we change coaching panel and get a win or two.

Depth and balance will need to be fixed by good recruiting.

Of course, it's nowhere near as simple as I put it.

It's pretty simple DW. There are two vital aspects to being successful, having players with talent, and having a coaching staff that can get the best out of them.

At the moment, we are struggling with the first, and dead and buried with the second.

Blind Freddy could tell you that Pagan is gone, it's just a question of when.

In terms of talent, as some on here are pointing out, we have an opportunity to get new talented players in.

We will get one early pick, losing the rest will give us another.

And to show you how important really early picks are, look at Murphy, and how good he is, EVEN unde the current inept coaching regime. If they'd ever bother to put Gibbs into the midfield, we'd see the same.

Yet Kennedy, Russell, Hartlett etc still struggle. Now, I hope that they make it, and trust that they will (especially with a different coaching panel and more development coaches), but it shows the difference between picks 1/2, and later picks. No guarantee, of course, but much better odds of getting very good players. And we need as many very god players as we can, because right now, we don't have alot.

I don't believe for a minute that players tank. Coaches can coach and select in a way that makes it difficult to win. Today was interesting...some of things that went on, constant rotation of players off the bench while Melbourne had the ball (Melbourne did most of their rotations after a goal), taking 3 and a half quarters to wake up to the fact that Bizzell was loose in the backline at center bounces (because Setanta was in the ruck and then meandered forward) and needed manning up at centre bounces (after he had taken his 14th mark) smacked of one of two things...

Either they are already tanking (not possible, IMHO, cause Pagan knows that losing means he's out), or that coaching panel is worse than any of us had dare to imagine.

AFAIC, the worst possible outcome for this club is to win 5 games, even 6. If we were to win 7 or 8, then that means 3-4 wins out of the last 8, good form, condifence, and something to take into next season. I can happily live with that.

Winning 1 or 2 more games is a disaster. No change from where we are now, no real onfield benefit, lose the PP.

Give me 4 wins (and PP), or 7+ wins, but PLEASE let us not finish the season on 5 or 6.
