Tanking, tanking, tanking.
It's the new premiership.

Were I feel Clubs like St Kilda Geelong etc. gone wrong in recent years was that they just concentrated in youth alone and forgot about the balance that a team must have, teams must have experienced strong bodies to go with these young kids otherwise you will burn half of these players before they had time to mature.

Don't entirely agree with that when it comes to Aints.
They traded for Hamill, Gehrig, Ackland, Penny, Voss, etc ... to add the experience required to guide their kids.

I hope that we win against Brisbane and/or Collingwood in the next three weeks (beating St Kilda is highly unlikely) and have a reasonably successful season with 7-10 wins. However if we lose all of these matches the best case scenario for the year would be to end up with four wins only. Five or six wins would be very dissappointing.

You've hit the nail on the head Humpers.

7-10 wins means visible improvement. 4 wins means bye-bye Pagan, plus picks 1 and 2.

5 or 6 wins mean we're still crap, and miss out on the extra pick (although Pagan still goes).

Look the draft system isn’t right....

The system is the lower you finish the better choice you have at picking your next Carlton players...

I would love another Murphy or Gibbs or both...

I don’t want to accept mediocrity...Any reasonable person knows that we wont make finals this year.

I’m not looking at wins this season but development, as long as I see our kids developing correctly and a decent flexible game plan I classify season 2007 a success...

So far im indifferent about this season so far:
- ATM our tactic is "bomb it in to Fev" ...this is soo predictable and we wont win a premiership with this style

- The MC also has favourites which im not in favour off...If they don’t perform, don’t play them SIMPLE im sick of kids "banging on the door" for months while we have players in the 1sts not putting in!

- Although I enjoy the development of Carlos, Walker, Murphy, Gibbs, and Bentick

Hey GAV, could you explain it to us again please?

Could you believe this had never been discussed until you came along to bless us with your wisdom?

But as I have said previously Gav...clubs do not tank. The only possible exception to this is in the last couple of rounds, clubs may send key players to surgery, or play younger guys. Otherwise, the question of whether to tank is irrelevant, and not worth discussing.

The only issue is, come late in the year, as a supporter, do you want your team to win or lose? And that discussion is not relavant until the end of the year.

tanked beautifully last night

oh the wisdom of gavroman - hark Solomon will divide his own self in homage to the tankfest of gavroman

and I say unto thee Satan tanked!

Lucifer missed set souls from all angles!

And on the third tank he rose again!

Hark I hear the angels singing glory to the new found tanking...

Oh Gavroman oh Gavroman
I think we have a tanking man...

and yeah verily we went up onto the mountain and a doctor handed us a suspicious tablet and said take this and think of me

and then carlton, with the devil whispering in his ear, did divide the table unto two
and King Dick was heard to say

'take two tablets and retire to bed'.

and the book of geniuses says

two picks in a tank is worth a george bush

I agree with Gavroman, win 4 games this year, get picks 1 and 2. Then, tank next year as well, win 4 games, get picks 1 & 2. Then....well you get the picture. Surely mods we can ban this goose from posting on this site!!!!

Is the whole idea of a forum not to express opinions or what???

You dont have to agree with me but calling for my head is a disgrace.

I want to see Carlton succeed as much as anyone. Its for the good of our club that we get picks 1 and 2. Evidently, another 20 posters seem to agree with me.

Yep I heard Gavro and his mates last night taunting the Lions fans after the match singing
We're getting the draft picks,
The number one and two draft picks..................

Actually I'd say you agree with another 20 posters

Tanking has been discussed her for the last 2 years. Synbad is your leader.

Pretty harsh call to ask for GAV to be banned though :-D
