I'm going to get shot down for this.

After Smorgon was dumped by the members, the next to go has to be Kernahan. The fact that he has so much influence at board level is becoming a liability. One could argue that without Kernahan and Gleeson, this Pagan/Mitchell situation would not have occurred.

It is clear that person friendships and deals for mates are clouding the judgment ofsome board members at the club and having deleterious effects on the professionalism and administrative areas of the Club.

Here is Kernahan on one hand being part of the Board that told Pagan that Elshaug and Mulkearns had to go and then he's on the radio a couple of months later telling us that they shouldn't have been sacked.

Quite seriously, if it wasn't for the feats that Kernahan accomplished in his 258 games with the Club, we and the members would view his performance as ordinary and even disappointing.

Kernahan is now the only common factor between the demise of the Club since 2002 and the current workings of the Club and the lack of professionalism that in some areas still ravages the Club.

As Chair of the Match Committee and now V-P, he is compromised. He's got to have either one or the other - he cannot be on both Board and Match Committee/Footy Dept.

I know it's a hard decision, but it has to be done. I hope Pratt can see that Kernahan is now a major liability on the Club.

Agreed.

He compromises himself every time he opens his mouth.

This is not about what a champion and legend he is to the club but rather what his relationships/associations are doing to the club now.

Getting was one thing and was greatly appreciated, but causing the coaching standoff is flowering embarrassing.

Stay on the MC but GET OFF THE BOARD and take Gleason with you.

Pagan?

Sticks should stay.

Kernahan's influence around the club will be greatly diminished now that the board is stronger and united and we have Greg Swann and Stephen Icke around the place.

Sticks does what he feels is best for the club and at least tried to step up when the club needed him most. I'm sure he's aware of his failings and shortcomings.

Clearly not the case at the moment Brad. It was Kernahan who told Swann and Icke what was happening with Pagan and Mitchell, Swann and Icke had no say from all reports.

sticks is smart enough to leave if he feels he is a negative influence.

I agree with Clem... but it wont happen..Sticks is still the man in the streets hero and the average Joe punter doesnt have any idea of the chaos he has caused in his many roles behind the scenes.
Caro and others have been on Sticks case and about how many hats he wears and how many revolutions he has inspired and then run away from when they backfired but its mud that hasnt stuck.....not to the average joe anyway.
Sticks is the man who got the messiah back.....well so the story goes.....thats giving Sticks a lot of cred with the faithfull......and anyway Barry Mitchell is being measured up first for slaughter and then Denis......

Had no say in what?

Are you saying Sticks filled them in on the problems with Pagan and Mitchell (which you would expect him too) or he told them how to deal with the Pagan and Mitchell problem?

If thats the case and Swann and Icke aren't going to make their own decisions then we're no better off than we were.

This is not about removing Sticks from the Carlton Football Club. Far from it, just keep him away from the Football Department now that we have Swann and Icke to run operations.

If that's the character of Gibbs, then I don't want him at Carlton. He's a Carlton player now and if he's a decent kid, then he'll stay here for the rest of his career.

Agreed, ubettsya, I think you're serious misjudging Gibbs here.

Agree that Kernahan should go. I don't think he'll be pushed, though, i think they'll wait for his term to be finished under the constitution (has it been changed now?) and let him retire from the board.
