http://www.theaustralian.news.com.au/st ... 70,00.html Quote: This family sadness has robbed Whitnall of his focus. He plays without rhythm because nothing in him is balanced any more. Such personal issues trouble many sportsmen but they are rarely played out so publicly or played with so wickedly by the media. There has been more sympathy for Cousins, the man addicted to ice.

The media focus on Daniel Kerr's off-field issues hasn't seemed to affect his form... |

I doubt its the media focus thats getting to Lance. I also don't believe Kerr is battling a knee injury at the same time. |

For Gods sake, he's had a run in with his brother. How many posters here havent had a run in with their siblings? The only difference is these carni folk have taken it to court. People go to work every day with issues in their lives. Whether it be family spats, ill friends or family. Its a part of life and you have to get on with it. I'd suggest Lance is struggling for form or battling injury. Everyone at the club seems to being towing that line. Old news. How about a nice story about Gibbs or Murph instead Patrick? |

Quote: Whitnall might not come back soon. Might not find the BMW. The club will drop him then, for while it cares for the player, he cannot become an emotional brake to the progress of the club.
There should be no rejoicing in that. It is distasteful there is any rejoicing now. ..and no one rejoicing more than half of our Carlton family. |

Its a part of life and you have to get on with it. Yeah but the difference is when you go to work with family issues on your mind, you don't have to play elite footballers and lead a club! It's not like he's not turning up to work. He just isn't as mentally on his game as he needs to be. I think that's a fair assumption made in the article. None of us know how hard this is affecting Lance. That's the point. Just because you can deal with losing your brother, maybe he can't. I certainly wouldn't be able to. People are all different. Some things that don't affect you much may affect others greatly. Try not to be so close minded. Remember when Kouta's Father was sick and eventually passed away? Kouta's form was awful. Others can come out the next day and play a ripper. Anyway, let's stick by him and see if he can't turn it around. If not by a reasonable time (I'm not sure how long that should be), then we need to take action. 2 (real) games is not a reasonable amount of time. |

The fatflower going soft on us??!! Hardly... Fatprick diatribe Quote: The way Essendon* is playing this season bears no resemblance to what the club did last year. After two rounds Essendon* is undefeated and in second place. Last year it won just three matches and drew another with the village idiot, Carlton.

As angry as that makes me, its a pretty funny line. that should be posted up at Carlton somewhere this week. ![]() |

They couldn't beat us (the village idiot) at two attempts last year ![]() Last year they beat the Swans in round one, early call on the massive turnaround. Long way home yet roofin' boy. |

Maybe he just writes what he thinks....? I was calling for Lance's head to be honest but why can't we support him? Its easy to say drop him, rest him etc but it takes real guts to back an out of form player in and stand up for him I know we're all saying the game has passed Whitnall by BUT hands up who thinks Chad Cornes is a good player? This guy plays the SAME style CHB as Whitnall and i dont think he's any better (a stronger midfield helps him) When Lance is in form he can play ON a player anyway anybody see Lance on Ashley Hansen last year or Lucas the first time we played the Bombers or Barry Hall? Well i could be wrong anyway but i think some people do need to see the other side of the argument instead of being close-minded and quick to judge |

look at our form over the last few years, on and off the field, we deserve everything the media have given us. slowly we are turning things around, slowly. We have been the village idiot. exactly what we have been, but slowly turning things around. The bombers are better than what a lot of people give them credit for. They have a great mix of talls with the quick smalls as well who have quality disposal and pace to burn. This week will be a good yardstick of where we are with our development. Dont underestimate the bombers list. |

I really could not give a sh*t about Lance's domestic life.... The family are a bunch of Red-Necks. I don't believe that this form slump has anything to do with his family, it has to do with the fact that Lance needs a full-preseason pulling tyres or whatever methods he has used in the past to get himself fit. He can't jump, he can not run fast, he has nouse but an unfit Lance gives him no hope of using this so-called football brain |
