How many more spankings can Pagan afford before he gets the boot? These kind of losses that have become far too regular the last few years surely can't be tolerated any longer.

Spankings are part of it, but there's a bigger picture to this Pagan dilemma.
It's the dis-unity amongst the coaching ranks and DP's bloody-mindedness & inflexibility in his 'beliefs' that are the biggest problem IMO.

The problem is they dont want to pay off the interest frre loan until they have to.

If there wasn't a system that rewarded failure Pagan would have been gone long ago. The draft allows coaches to extend their careers using the line they are rebuilding - or they haven't got the list.

For 4-5 years now I have been told that Pagan has got the Gameplan but the players can't execute it

I ask this Pagan has turned over 60-70 players at his time at Carlton - do any of them execute his gameplen to his liking - surely by now the majority of the list would be playing to his instructions - are they -can anyone name the players that are performing the way Denis wants them to - how he has coached them and instructed them to play. Is whitnal - Stevens- Scotland - any of them - Fev and the midfeilders are they doing what Denis wants - do any of them walk off the ground and Denis says well done you were terrific thats exactly what I want.

Every time we cop a belting like this Denis blames the players and their youth or in previuos years lack of draft picks . Just once I would like to here him say- I got it wrong

Wait until the end of the season, then the best possible candidates can be interviewed/headhunted if need be.

Putting in a Ratten mid year will most likely result in a few 'honeymoon' wins, the loss of the priority pick and also a muddying of the waters about who should coach on 2008.

It's not so much the result but just how we completely get outplayed in these matches, even the tigers got a hold of us for a quarter or so but couldn't go on with it.
Saturday night looked like a training drill for the cats and we were the witches hats.
Pagan said in his first or second year 'Give me draft picks and I'll give you wins.' Well he's got to spoons worth now and Saturday night was no different to the crap we've watched over the last few years.

Thought someone might bring that up.

I think you will find that Pagan has a target this year

From what rem RP expectedt he Blues to finish 10th and if this isnt achieved or cant be achieved depending on how many games are available in the season then reckon he will be gone with a bullet

Simple this year Pagan has to achieve a result and RP has the cash to remove him if he dosnt achieve this result.

Neil Craig was also given a few games - IIRC they got smashed by >100 points against Brisbane

The other downside to it is that Ratten coaches the rest of the season, we do ok, its decided to appoint John Longmire as coach...you're pretty much assured of losing Ratten to the club.

Maybe that happens anyway if Longmire is appointed end of season, but I'd hate to lose Ratten.

I don't think Rattern is ready for a senior coaching role. Ditto on Voss.

If we were to get rid of Pagan, i'd much rather go for somebody who has served their apprentaship as an assistant.

John Longmire gets alot of wraps & credit for what he has done with Sydney. I'm not entirly sure just what it is he has done, but i'd love to see the Club at least interview him or somebody similar to see what they can bring to the club.

The only thing i don't like about Longmire is the North Melbourne connection....................that seems to be a curse with us!
McKernan / Pagan / Teauge / etc, etc, etc

So we got completely outplayed, yet the Tiggers "didn't go on with it"? Well, that's not completely outplayed, is it?

Can't have it both ways.

There will be matches like Saturday's and there will be some where we create a boilover. That's what happens with young lists.

I just don't think we can afford another year of monthly canings, if this continues I'd like to think we'd be sourcing out Harvey's or Longmire's availability for next year.
Does anyone else reckon Pagan is taking the piss lately in the media. Saying he's coaching better than ever, his digs about the board's stance on Mitchell, Fev won't be a complete player until he becomes a CHF.

Either he has really lost his marbles or he's having a lend of us.

best thing you've posted on here at TC, Winnie

These picks would no doubt help our cause for the next 10 years, but I cannot see us winning just 4 games this year - it would have to be 7 for mine.

I think if we get a top 3 pick we're doing well - Cazz, how's the depth in the draft this year?
