Quote: Blues boost recruiting
Another step in the restoration of Carlton was taken yesterday when the Blues bolstered their recruiting department with the appointment of Shane Rogers, formerly of Fremantle. In the brief time of the presidency of billionaire Richard Pratt, the Blues have lured Greg Swann from Collingwood to serve as chief executive, recruited Stephen Icke from Fremantle to oversee the football department and now added Rogers to the team of recruiting manager Wayne Hughes. "There are areas of our operation that we are keen to put resources and a lot of focus into and recruiting is one of those," Icke said last night of Rogers' appointment. http://www.realfooty.com.au/news/news/b ... 08722.html |

Brilliant news for the Blues. A great coup for WH. Shane is without doubt one of the nicest and most sincere gents I have met in my time following the TAC. He is held in extremely high regard by all his peers and his work ethic is up with the very best. His career has seen him work at the Doggies, Collingwood and Freo. CFC recruiting is in very experienced and knowledgeable hands with WH and SR steering the selection process. Regards Cazzesman |

It quality not quantity ![]() Regards Cazesman |

It's fantastic news for our recruitment department but I have to wonder how we're going to pay for all of this. I know Pratt is a billionaire but we aren't living off his money. I hope Swann has a plan for us to be self sustaining within the next two years to cover all these new costs. |

Sometimes you are such a negative person. Do you think Swann is an administrative fool? Behind the Swann coup this is one of the biggest coups in recruiting. Be thankful and let Swann worry about the bottom line. Regards Cazzesman |

Mark H told us the other day the board reached its target of raising an additional $1,000,000+ in sponsorship (not including the Raheen fundraiser). That'll help pay for it all in the short term. In the long term it is up to Swann to make this club profitable. I started a poll a couple of weeks ago on who was the most important recruit since last season. The above is a key reason why Swann is right up there. Pratt has brought the money and the people, Swann will be putting it all together. He played a key role in Collingwoods resurgance, he'll play a key role in ours ![]() |
