Maher on SEN this morning said the amount raised by the big wigs at Dick's house last night was staggering. Said he'd reveal the amount after 7am but I misssed it. Anyone hear it?

Just over $1 million offered, and then matched by Dick Pratt.

So a little over $2 million in total.

Money rasied by guests $1.017 million. Every dollar raised was then matched by Mr.Pratt which means a ground total of $2.034 million. Money pledged would not necessarily be used to eradicate debt but money to be used to get our football department on par with the Collingwood's of this world.
Andrew Maher was at the function and he spoke to Kouta after the function and all Kouta could say was this is like Carlton when I started my career here.
Mr Pratt you are the man.

I would like to see them start paying debt off, because at the moment we are paying at least $500K in interest per year to the NAB which is a waste of money and could be used elsewhere. I hope they used the raised money to pay at least some of the debt.

Greg Swann's mandate will be to grow revenue which currently is around $19 million per year.

Interest payments of $500,000 pa whilst high will not be nearly so much of a problem if we can grow revenue to Essendon*/Collingwood levels over the next few years.

The majority of the money raised last night will be going directly into Football Operations Budget to improve facilities and support mechanisms so our boys can match it on and off the field with the WCE, Adelaides and Collingwoods of this world.

Hopefully will lead to on-field improvement which will lead to on-field success - more attractive sponsorship options - more revenue - reduce debt.

This is the correct pathway to total success in the long term. :-D

Swann just interviewed on SEN, confirmed the amount raised was $2.034m.

Said it would be used to beef up the football operations department.

He was full of enthusiasm and positiveness, the contrast between he and Malouf as a radio performer couldn't be more stark. Assured, positive, sense of humour...fills listeners with confidence that things will happen.

Is that because Smorgo wasnt there and hasnt tipped in yet?
:-D

Agro's right, If we retire debt with the $2mil, we would save $160k per year interest. But use it to improve the team and club, that $160k may be chickenfeed

A couple of years ago when things were looking very dark for the Carlton Football Club my dad, a staunch Bombers supporter, said there's no way in hell that Carlton would go under when they've got supporters like Dick Pratt. Back then it was difficult to believe with a new doom and gloom story emanating from Princes Park almost every other day that Carlton would someday emerge with a positive future.

Now I'm happy to say Dad was right.

I've always believed that we'd never go under. It was just a matter of time.

Wonderful news. How good is this? I never found a 75 year old man attractive before but the world is beginning to move!

So much so that I think its time to follow their lead. I will upgrade my membership today as a show of support to the Club.

Maybe a Blue Suits membership or something like that?
