If we can win this one, the excitement levels will really be up. At this stage I'm keeping a lid on it, afterallwe won our opening game last year and still ended up with the spoon. Geelong will be a tougher task than Richmond were. They have a pretty quick midfield and a three pronged forward line, whilst Scarlett has a good track record against Fevola. Nathan Ablett looks like he's ready to play at the highest level now, whilst his older little brother is mercurial and has the potential to win a game off his own boot. With Waite struggling in defence we need a third tall defender to match up on the big three from Geelong. Waite will probably be given first crack at it though. Our mids can match those of Geelong, and if we were to break even there, it may turn into a goal kicking shootout. Still not sure if our forward line is structured appropriately. I liked the way it functioned against the Lions, but last night it didn't quite click cohesively. GO BLUES! |

we are doomed if whitnall doesnt kick a goal and waite falls asleep in defence as he did last night. enright, bartel, corey, chapman, hunt, milburn and the other pussies have exquisite foot passing skills... we will beat them if we put man on man pressure on them and force them into errors... really looking forward to this one. |

Geelong are not realy quick in my view. Enright ,Bartel etc are tough hard running mids but arnt quick. I would drop Wiggo and bring in Blackwell to bolster the midfield rotation. The key player is Gary Ablett who destroyed us last year. He is their ownly bonified superstar which is why the Cats are overrated ( watch out for his brother though). Should they play Russell on him. This is a tough one as Ablett is a lot stronger. Thornton is the guy I would play on him. Walker is another option. Stop Ablett and we win the game. |

Although our leg speed has increased over summer i still thought that when the ball got in the open, especially the end of the 1st quarter to half time and even into the 3rd quarter when the ball broke free from the stoppages and packs and into space we still looked a bit slow and they outran us i thought. This might have been because Simpson, Russell and Murphy our faster running young players had quieter games. But i would like to see us bring in Grigg, is very quick and we saw the Dogs expose the cats greatly yesterday arvo by having quick running players with good skills. |

I’d definitely give Russell the job. It might be a challenge but that is what we need to do with our young boys, throw them challenges. G.Ablett is an absolute gun but Russell is in form as a run-with so keep him there |

Agree with Russell on G Ablett. It will be a learning experience for him which should benefit him a lot. BTW loved his goal last night. Loved it! Who should tackle Chapman? Ling may tag Murphy. |

This is going to be a true test of where we are at. If we can find a way over the line in this game, than finals are not out of the question - although I still think we are a year or two away from that right now. Telstra dome has been a good hunting ground for the Fev so I expect him to bag a few 4+, but the real challenge will be in the midfield. We need to stop the fluid delivery into their forward line and put allot of pressure on them otherwise our backs won't stand a chance of spoiling and rebounding. I expect the pussies to win, but I hope and pray that we make it over then line, a win will instill a sense on confidence that will carry us far. |

Last night when they were on top we looked slow, and when we were on top they looked slow. They need to make a decision on Lance (now not righting him off), for the teams own benefit he is either up to it or he needs a couple of weeks break and we put it down to a slight strain to allow him to perform to his best and regroup. Lance can make a difference for us even on his lesser games as he takes a top line defender. The call on Wiggins is simple, Blackwell will offer us more around the ground, whilst the Wiggler will offer us that one on one grunt in certain situations, and the Match Committee just need to make that call on which one they value more for this game. Pleasing watching the game last night, in particularly the work rate of Josh Kennedy, good mobility for a big man. |

As a side issue when to the game last night with my mate Russell who is an ardent Cats man and has the same view on Ling(as do others) in the same way us Bluees see Lance. The game is passing him by. 24 possies and ineffectual. |

Geelong have troubled us before with pace, hardness at the footy(intimidation from Milburn, Mooney etc) and Scarlett doing well on Fev. Richmond are rubbish IMHO and we should have won by more especially considering the personnel they had out. I would play Walker on G. Ablett....Ablett has pace, is strong in the upper body and has some of his old mans flair...Walker can match him physically and is playing well... Waite on Mooney.......Waite wasnt impressive at CHB vs the Tigers but needs some faith shown in him and should start on the unpredictable Mooney....its an uncomfortable matchup for mine with Mooney being a bit more physical and Waite not wanting to punch from behind and be disciplined, but its still a learning process for the son of Vin.... Be a test for Cloke and Ackland ...both in the ruck dept and how they look after some of our smaller players..... Geelong will try it on with the physical stuff and with Lance showing no leadership and struggling to get a kick, Kouta absent,, it may show who is going to be the real leaders on the field.....Kade Simpson was impressive in this area vs Richmond...low on possies but high on throwing his body into contests and leading the way with some brave play bit like Wayne Johnston did in the glory days.... |
