One of the great things about Foxtel active coverage is you can get to see what happens n the Carlton rooms pre-during-post match.

I have been watching this for a couple of years now and noticed a few differences this year from the last couple.

- For starters there is a TC'er very prominent in front of the Foxtel camera all night. Keep an eye out for her she had a striped bag.

- All the players were given a plastic bag after the game, seemed to have amongst other things an energy drink and a yoghurt or fruit snack.

- The players were offered not only bananas (which was the staple last year) but also a nice platter of watermelon slices to choose from.

- Despite my criticisms of Stevens, at half time and after the game he was obviously the stand out leader amongst the players, noticibly egging on all the players for greater efforts. Did not notice this as much last year.

- As far as I can tell it looked like Paul Ford the fitness coach gave all the boys a small speech about 20 minutes after the game in the rooms. This is very unusual, I do not remember anyone 'lowee' than the assistant coaching ranks giving the team a rev-up in the last few years on Foxtel active. They all seemed to hang off his words as well, maybe Ford has had a bigger imapact than any of us realise.

- Richard Pratt was quite prominent to the players before during and after the game, much moreso than the last 2 presidents. It is also interesting to notice the players body language towards the Prez, they are obviously in awe of a guy who is worth more than $5 Billion dollars!!

-No Elastics!! Last year in the rooms after a game the players were given big pieces of elastic with which to stretch after a game. Thius year that has been done away with in preference for more traditional stretching exersices.

- From what I saw expect interviews from CarltonTV from Bentick, Fevola, Gibbs and Stevens this week. [/list]

Well we ran out another game superbly tonight. Fantastic results from him so far! Nothing against Mulkearns but why is Pagan whinging about losing him when Ford has replaced him and made such a positive impact? He should be over the moon.

One thing I forgot to mention is that 'Special K' looks like he at least twinged his right shoulder in that desperate lunge on the wing in the second quarter. Had the ice pack on the shoulder. Did not look too serious though.

So they put 'Ice' on the 'Special K'...

Mmm, sounds like another footy drug scandal.

Got it all on tape. Planning to build a DVD collection of our wins.

Early on our camera was called "mosaic". Not sure why.

It's a pity we can't get audio from the rooms too.

I didn't notice that until you pointed it out. Perhaps the elastic wasn't doing the job last year?

You may have, it was just different players. Last year Kouta was the captain and Lance did most of the on field talking. Maybe its something we do on purpose to share the responsibility around.

One thing I noticed at 3/4 time was Jordan Russell pulling Setanta aside to give him a pat on the back and afew words of encouragement. He then moved on to a few other players, very supportive.

Yeah its coverage that foxtel have on their active games. The press conference after the games are good too, its really interesting watching the rooms after a game and seeing how the boys went about it.

What a waste of resources - why can't they all just grab their food off a table and their energy drink out of a big cooler instead of individual bottles etc??

I can only guess here, but I do know Fordy tells the boys whats on for the week with training. Tells the boys what they will be doing early week and late week, tells them what days will be the light traning and what days will be the hard.
He also has different fitnes schedules for each player/group. So most likely a run day of who will be doing what aswell.

This is just a guess but I have heard the boys talk about Ford doing this all pre-season.

Michael Malouf is a true gentlemen and is making Swann's initiation and transition as smooth as possible - very professional is Michael - unfortunately not as savvy a media performer that is required in the role. Good luck to Michael in the next phase of his life.

Let me just add - that contrary to Collingwood and Eddie's spin on things they are still absolutely bleeding big time over Greg Swann's departure, Eddie is a bit punch drunk at the moment as well - as he was also 100% certain of nailing "Kath & Kim" for the Nine Network - Eddie aint used to not getting his way, something is about to give.
