All

Saturday night will be Carlton's first 'Big' game since 2005, and the first since we've had our Club's history outlined in the Blueseum.

I'd like to ask any of you going to the game to consider taking pics of players, even with your phone (if they can be transferred), to add to a gallery of Saturday night for the Blueseum. If we could have 50 good shots of players running, kicking and hopefully nailing goals for future reference all stashed in the Blueseum for the future I think it would be a good thing.

Please keep it in mind.

Have you cleared this with Andrew Demetrispew and Geoff Slattery?

I've got some "priceless footage" of a security guard going nuts....because we were filming our kids at an auskick game at halftime at the dome....
Seriously this guys was going to thump me (AND I HAD A MEDIA PASS!)

The Auskick coordinators were FANTASTIC in settling this guys down AND sticking up for my rights (I must say I was in dumbfounded shock most of the time)...
So what happened next....I see the same guys having a go at another dad....on the other side of the ground....so I filmed it ...
Watch the AFL start searching for cameras next

My understanding is that members of the general public are not allowed to bring in video cameras into an AFL game - even if it is for the express purpose of videoing your kid who happens to be playing in the Auskick or Little League game.

Same happens at the cricket, no video cameras (still got mine in though :P ).

Getting a bit silly now though because you can have a tiny mobile phone which takes video with a 1 Gig memory stick inside, enough to take lots of video.

guys and gals

this has been taken from the Telstra domes website http://www.telstradome.com.au/page/default.asp?site=1&page=INFO_Entry in terms of entry and regulations

Quote:
7. Management reserves the right to inspect any bag and/or articles of clothing for the following prohibited items:

- alcohol
- opened drink containers
- cans/glass
- commercially prepared food or beverage
- musical instruments
- whistles
- unauthorised temporary signage and promotional products
- flags/banners with handles exceeding 1.6 metres
- fireworks/flares/laser lights
- chairs/stools
- rollerblades, skateboards, scooters
- animals (other than Assistance Dogs)
-
professional cameras, audio recording equipment or video cameras
- any large item that cannot be placed under a seat and
- any other item that in the opinion of management could cause harm or public nuisance.

Which brings me to an interesting question regarding this highlighted iin red....

As digital slr cameras have become more obtainable to most budgets these days what exactly does class as Professional Camera?

is just a 6meg digital compact camera for example

or can you have something like a nikon D80 digital slr

Where do they draw the line what is and isnt a professional camera

cheers

I wouldn't be too worried over the digital camera issue and bringing it inside the ground. I attended the Robbie Williams concert at the Dome several months back and that specified that no professional cameras were allowed. However a girl had a fairly large lens on her SLR and was happily snapping away.

I also think that the security checks on baggage is a joke at Telstra Dome and also the MCG. I arrive at the ground with my backpack and have it already open for them - they have one quick look inside (and this is even before the crowd rush closer to the game) and then say you are right to go. Not to alarm anyone but it would be rather easy to smuggle anything you want into the ground and they would not even KNOW.

Many times I have taken my own food and drinks into the ground, it is slowly becoming tradition that I grab a large Nando's chips and head into the ground with them....

All the best to those of you that will be taking photos or trying to get certain items past the "highly skilled" security staff. I will take a few myself and might even do some video as my Sony CyberShot Camera is able to capture. By the way for the sake of it - my camera is a Sony CyberShot 8.1 megapixel.

Regards, Sticks1977 :P

I remember going to Wembley in 1996 in a large group, 10 guys and 2 girls. All the blokes got the full padding down security check, the chicks just walked straight in.

Jarusa

i was in the sticks room and by the look of your mobile pics it looks as if you wasnt to far from me...

That person was most likely me who had the camera with a lense so big it made the papparazzi blush as you said...

it was n overkill for that room but i couldnt be bothered changing it to smaller lense as i wanted the big lense to get the on field shots

cheers
