based on 2007, would you rather win against Brisbane this Saturday to take the NAB Cup, or would you rather the 4 points against Brisbane for our home and away game later in the year?

I'd prefer both, of course, but if I had to take only one.....the 4 points.

We've already proved something this year, IMO, now let's prove something through the rest of the real season.

Win them while we can, and leave some doors open.

Given our current situation ..... NAB Cup.

2 reasons:

1. Great confidence boost (and a bit of caaaaiiish) to kick of the round 1 clash against the Tigers

2. Would do a lot more for Membership boost to win NAB Cup in Melbourne than it would half-way through the season up here in Brisbane.

But as I will be at the Bris-vegas game I hope we win anyway.

This season isn't about wins & losses, its about improvement in the players and getting a settled team out there from week to week. Confidence, cash and memberships/sponsorships are all extremely important.

We really only need the 4 points, 4 times this year, lets leave them for Essendon*/Collingwood/St Kilda and not be too concerned with interstate trips.

definitely the 4 points, the best teams couldn't care less about the nab cup and that's how we should be in a couple of years when our finances are back on track.

Which is why none of them are in it any more. The Bloods always blood their Rookies in the Who Cares, which is why they never survive R1 under Roos .. It's interesting how the not-so-best teams (Filth, Roos, Dorks, Lions, Blues) are all still in it. Does this show a turn-around during the off-season or is this a focus at the wrong end of the season?

My vote is for the NAB Cup for the same reasons as TruBlueBrad

but if we keep on keeping on, the 4pts up there later this year are a given any way

The NAB points for sure

For what is being billed a consolidation / springboard year, 2007 won't be remembered for where we finish on the table, and the NAB Cup will bring confidence which should seed further development within the squad......

the nab cup win - without a shadow of a doubt.

In terms of prestige, money and development of players it is worth 1000 times more than a home and away victory.

In the first round i would agree that many teams aren't putting their best players in- but by the second round the bulldogs, the fremantles etc were all trying to keep winning.

Most teams that win pre-season cups end up winning the big one. They go hand in hand most of the time.

This is where the preseason victors ended up in the home and away season

2000 - preseason victor in 2000 - Essendon*
Essendon* - 1st in season proper
2001-02 - preseason victor - port adelaide
port - ended up winning the big one in 2004 (finished 5th and 3rd in 2001 and 2002)

2003
Adelaide -finished fifth-and look a finals contender in 2007

Wins and the confidence gained from them are gold for a young team.

I'll take the NAB cup win, thank you very much.

NAB cup win.
Thats 100K we can use towards paying Den Den out .

The 4 points are worthless if your not playing finals.
I will take the 4 points next year.

In isolation, the NAB cup win.

If you're needing the four points to make the eight, chances are it's not going to be worth the effort to get in (having said that, what's the lowest finishing team to make the GF? I know Adelaide won from 6th).

I'll take the cash in hand, the membership surge, the national exposure, the solid 3 or 4 days of good footy press and now the opportunity for a nice financial boost if we secure the double. :)
