Great interview with the big Ardrossan rednut himself, Sam Jacobs:

I can say 'great' because I didn't do it. Thanks Beau.

Sam didn't have much to say.

I heard Pagan say that in a press conference once.

If you can't push Sandilands in the back to get him out of the way, what are you supposed to do?

I think you’ve just got to keep on the move, keep jumping into him and keep trying to hurt him. The contact is part and parcel of being in the ruck, you just grow up with the physical nature of the position.

A good old fashioned ruckman. Cool. :-D

Can't wait for Jacobs v Sandilands

I like him. A genuine ruckman. He will hurt those in his way.

He's big, he's been exposded to senior footy, he can mark, kick and run (and he's young too).

I hope to see the day (soon) where 200cm Jacobs takes the centre bounce and the boundary throw ins too supporting Hamson and Ackland. When resting, Ackland and Hampson can change in the FP, from their primary role as athletic around the ground ruckmen.

Now imagine Kennedy 198cm, Hartlett 196 cm, Fevola 191 cm in the forwardline with Hampson 201 cm or Ackland 196 cm there pinch hitting. Now that's a conundrum for the opposition; height and athleticism.

By 2010 (if there's no Kruezner) at the very least, we know we can count on the young Hampson, Jacobs and Aisake maturing and ruling the high ground for the 17th Flag (if/when they overtake Ackland and Cloke). McLaren has a lot of ground to make up imo.

The future with Jacobs here makes a brighter outlook for Carlton.

as much as it kills me to say it, with the addition of Ackland, Cloke, Hampson, and Jacobs, along with continued development of Aisake, i think D-Mac's days may be numbered.

Does anyone know whether those responses by Sam were edited by Mike and Dan, as if that isn't the case, he's one of the most eloquent 18 year footballers I've heard speak! Very impressive.

Of course they were edited! Otherwise it would be 'yeah nah', 'it was bulk fun', and 'it was heaps good' which he said repeatedly.

Basically the M&D writer typed up as much as he could whilst interviewing him to get the basic points down, then put it all together.

It is still a very accurate representation of what he said - he has a lot to say and loves the Club, Ardrossan, Dempsey etc.

What I meant in this instance was rather then being simply edited, is whether the construction of his sentences and the vocabulary he used was reflective of his actual answers, or was it highly fabricated. As based on the other 10 minute interviews, his was superb!
