Costa is a fool to make it public... he should know that this will make waves at PP internally.

Neither Pratt nor Costa came down in the last shower. I would be surprised if Costa coming out was not part of a plan. Of course, what the plan is I have no idea....

It wouldn't be news to Malouf either that we're looking for a new CEO

But these are the doors that a man like Richard Pratt opens up for us.

Costa 'politely' told Pratt to @#$%&! off.

But in the next breath said if you want to use Brian Cook as a consultant go right ahead.

If it was someone like Graeme Smorgan, Costa would have told him to just @#$%&! off and left it at that.

I wonder how Cook feels about Costa telling Dick whether he can have him or not?

Does Cook get a say in this or is he just the chatel of powerful men?

If we want Cook we should just go and get him. Smells a bit to me of Dick putting his business relationship before the football club. I know Dick is the mesiah, and he is and will be fantastic for the club, but...

Did you read the article Speedy?

Cook has made a comittment to Geelong that he wouldn't leave for another AFL club. He's already been offered twice as much salary and knocked it back.

Pratt would have known this, thus him approaching Costa first. If Costa had have ok'd it, our chances of getting Cook to agree to joining would have increased.

Pratt's no fool.

Of course, Pratt should burn a multimillion dollar contract between Visy andn Costa, and destroy a 40 year business relationship in the process, in order to get Brian Cook to the club.

You don't expect much, do you? :garthp:

This sounds to me like a massive set-up - for what I am not sure other than to alert the football community and potential applicants that the job could become available.

Pratt and Costa are good friends, so why would Costa intentionally leak a private conversation between himself and Pratt considering the consequences. It was either poor judgement on Costa's behalf (highly unlikely) or an intentional act which Pratt was fully aware of.

Exactly, we've just had the President of Geelong declare our CEO position open for us. We've also established the quality of candidate we're looking for. And in such a way as not to come out and cut Malouf's throat by declaring he's out of a job.

Clever.

So heartening to see a can do president at work.

He knows the exact dimensions of all the shapes left by all the missing jigsaw pieces that Carlton needs to fill - So that we can complete the premiership picture.

More importantly he knows who would be the best fit for each and every missing piece.

Either that or at this very minute he's on the phone to Frank chewing him out about ratting on their conversation, threatening to end 40 years of friendship and business
