I thought it might be fun to have a running thread for examples of lazy, idiotic, spiteful or just plain terrible print/electronic journalism about Carlton. See what you come up with and maybe we can give out an award at the end of the season.

I thought I'd kick it off with this piece from AdelaideNow:

End of gloom near, by - who I can only guess must be a work experience student or mailroom boy - Zac Milbank.

Let's start with the spellcheck will we?

Quote:
"WHE'RE like the boy with the wheelbarrow - we've got the job in front of us".

Carlton coach Denis Pagan is spot on about his team's situation.

Pity Zac's not too spot on in terms of the old we're/where tricky business (I know - I'll try both and see if they fit!)

Then there's a great pic of Kade Simpson on the fly:

Image

With the following caption:
Quote:
Adam Bentick ... one of the Blue boys who must move up to the next level this season.

I say Zac Milbank might actually be one of the AdelaideNow boys who needs to move up to the next level this season!

Zac Milbank = :garthp:

Just goes to show those centres in India aren't a one-stop-shop for out-sourcing your company's needs.

EDIT: Correcting anything before the grammar nazi returns.

Ryan there is an entire thread dedicated to this topic somewhere. If I remember correctly it has something to do with a St Kilda supporter that used to come in here and made his own emotion icon...

And as someone that works with media a lot, it is a very common problem of captions not fitting photos. It has to do with working without a WTSIWYG editor. Production departments have to guess what photo belongs with the story or what caption belongs with the photo.

I would say from the reading of this story that it was on deadline and hasn't been edited. It is actually the editors job to stop this getting through, that's what they're paid the big bucks for.

Still in this world of the continuous news desk where it is online first, print second, getting text online is not always going to be smooth sailing and we're going to have to get used to a lot more typos getting through until journalist realize that they have to self-edit now.

:garthp: is a running joke - he is a st kilda supporter who trolled rubbish and used emoticons in abundance so :garthp: was made to be used as somewhat of a replacement for  as blueworld said

but :garthp: is very versatile and can have many uses

I think we should have :AGRO: if you want to indicate a mouthful of foul words, particularly if Demetriou is mentioned in the post.
