l, like many others have been logging onto talking carlton for quite a period, and found it to be the only informative and realiable source of information and debate for the carlton community around Australia and the world. This was especially true around the time of the elections and the postive impact this site had on its outcome.

So, apart from buying my membership for 2007, l would like to contribute in a positive way to maintaining this site which inturn aids the carlton football club.

As a suggestion, we could raise funds by way of promotion material for 'talking carlton' for example navy baseball caps with the carlton logo at the front and talking carlton on the side or back ect ect

If most members on this site say brought a cap or what ever else it could raise enough funds. (we could tell at the footy who and is a talking carlton member)

Please suggest any othe ideas to help out

BlueyBoy !

The Carlton logo trademark is owned by the AFL. You'd need AFL permission to use it on caps. Somehow I can't see them coming to the party.

True Mordan, but the idea is good, nothing stopping us from using the site logo. I know there were a few shirts made along these lines a while back, and the lads over at TSS have done a good job with their clothing (though personally hot pink would suit Clint a lot better).

So definitely a good idea BlueyBoy, just need to remove the logo part of the idea as that's simply not going to happen.

I Think we've got an adequate way of raisng funds through the player sposnsorgip etc. any funds raising can go to any expenseds for the site and then to the "player sponsor" efforts.

As for merchandise etc...great idea...I still have TBV T-shirts....so I'm conscious of the ramifications. Also as Mordan said the logo is embroiled in liscensing agreements so "may" be tricky...
Mind you I see nothing wrong with the "banner"

we are currently looking into this, as well as sourcing suppliers. Most places want big orders (100 +) or if less than that, charge an arm and a leg.

That's not so bad if you're pushing the t-shirts into the amputee market.....

I'd like to see a big banner at the footy hung over the fence with a big "Talking Carlton" banner logo......

MAKE IT HAPPEN!

If the site ever needs money to finance hosting costs, IMO the only real alternatives are either the majority of the hosting costs are borne by the admins and moderating team or by some form of advertising.

Merchandise will be nice, but I cannot see it being a steady stream of income that is reliable enough. Good as maybe a 2nd or 3rd revenue stream but not the main one.

Blue Chunky and Site Admins

As l raised the point of wanting to raise funds for this site, l can get the ball rolling.

l work for a printing and embroidery company and l am willing to donate my time to get caps and t-shirts done at a fraction of the cost to raise funds.

Please email me so l can get more details ect and meet with you guys!

Cheers

Saintsational tried something similar. Unfortunately the singlets had to be destroyed as they didn't have permission to use the VB logo.

Maybe the costs could be met by hosting pornography.

Is the name Sole Flowers taken?
