Who will be our Ratts or Simmo?
Which player will really take huge leaps forward this year like Ratts did in 94/5 and Simmo did last year. Who will go from fringe battler to key man? The last two times I've predicted this I came up with Sporn and then Davies, so I know nothing. But at the risk of mozzing them, I reckon Blackwell can make a mark by season's end. Could he be our Sam Mitchell?

I second that, Once he actually makes it into the senior side that is!

Personally, i don't think it will be any one player this year. I believe that we'll have a few young kids stand up and get noticed by the media & football world.

Setanta only touched the surface last year, and will continue his rise this year & i believe that by the half-way mark of the season, he will feature as a key game-day match up in opposistion coaches tactics.

Big Irish boy Setanta. Starting to read the game well, I have alot of expectation for him this year at full back.

i dont think bower fits the catergory strickly speaking as he's only a second year player. no doubt he will imporve this season and hopefully be a key player but i dont reckon you could call him a fringe player after just one season.

blackers and JR are probably a bit too yong to class in the same way also.

i reckon bentick will step it up a level but he is still preety young too.
gee it's nice having a young list.

Probably doesn't fit the criteria of fringe to key player (he took that step last year) but I expect a lot of improvement again this year from Andrew Walker, going from key player to star player.

I reckon he's just about ready to take the AFL by storm.

Setanta....big, strong, quick for his size and getting smarter and wants to get better....will be one of the top defenders in the game and will be All Australian in a couple of years....

I agree with EB, Carrazzo.

Will show us what he is really capable with a decent run in the midfield. 8)

See, this is the great upside our club has at the moment, on field.

We have more than one or two players who could do a Ratts or Simmo.

Josh kennedy, Paul Bower, Setanta O'hAilpin, Andrew Carazzo have all shown signs that they are ready to have a big impact this year.

Add to that a fit and fighting Murphy, an uninjured Walker, the tandem workings of Ackland and Cloke, and our team is starting to finally look ok :)

I reckon Andrew Walker will this year go from making SOME supporters say 'oh crap, what's he going to do with the ball?' to 'thank christ Walker's got the ball'.

I just reckon he's going to be the best of 'em all - so there.

It's not a matter of who.

It's a matter of how many.

With so many new players coming through there could be 5 or 6 of them make their mark in 2007. Edwards on the flank, Bower running from defence, Blackers in the middle, Gibbs around the ground, Hampson surprising on debut in Round 16 when he kicks 4 from the pocket....

I'll second that as long spoon boy plays him on the ball where he does his best work.

I'm on the carrazzo bandwagon, he seems to be getting better with each game.... I expect a big year from him now that he can nail a set shot from 30 to win us a game .. :-D
