I'm curious to see where Pagan says "We want Cup win".

Criminal misquoting from the herald sun to take someone's comments completely out of context. Absolute disgrace. :x

Especially when there's articles like this:
http://carltonfc.com.au/Season2007/News ... wsId=38620

Where he's quoted as saying "We're not saying we want to win it (the NAB Cup), we're saying whether we play Fremantle or the Kangaroos, we want to do the best we can next week."

Whether we win it or not.....i just don't want to hear that winning the pre season cup was the reason we had a such a bad season because clubs were able to sit back and disect our game plan (such as we heard all season from DP in 2005!!)

No one in the media likes us do they ??

I love the last sentence its just trying to kick us in the guts by attempting to highlight that hawthorn had 8 players out - makes it sound like they were a decimated team - those 8 players arent going to make them that much better at all.

Oh and we are full strength and busting our guts - so we must still be shit.

Carlton win 2 games in a row ? surely not - there must be an excuse

@#$%&! YOU MEDIA !

It is also funny that prior to both games we are the underdogs with the punters, but after the game, they make it sound like we were playing the seconds!

Dun think there is too much to disect the key to beating the Hawks is to prevent them from playing there running and link game similar to the Bulldogs both the Blues and Lions beat the Hawks and WB but shutting down the running game by applying pressure and winning the contested ball.

Next time we play the Hawks i doubt we will play much differently the key is to maintain Pressure on there running link men as much as you can over 4 quarters.

Thats one good thing that has come from the 2 games so far the players have maintained good intensity most of the match which in the past we would have dropped off much earlier in the game.

Reading the HUN report there were a few grammatical eroros in their report on us - these people are very lazy reporters.

They also in general dislike Carton.

However, I reckon that we will beat North at Carrara - so the media can set about dreaming up a few more ways to delibetately make us look worse than we are.

I found it interesting that the main theme of the press was that the Hawks were young and the Blues had their best team in. Not disagreeing with either to a large extent but when you look at the numbers there isn't that much of a difference:

Blues 24:
Average Age - 23.88 years, Average No. games - 81.3

Hawks 24:
22.52 years, Average No. games - 45.3

So our team is abit over a years different on average in both respects - closer to 1.5 years.

If you take out Lappin and Kouta and replace with Bower and Blackwell, the average comes down to 22.8 years / 61 games - only marginally higher. Or, say, remove Lappin and Saddington - 23 / 65.

Alternatively, the Hawks had 7 players with 5 or less games to our 2.

In terms of 'best team', I think the Blues Round 22 team this year will look a little different to the other night with a number of our younger players coming through, particularly Bower, Edwards, Grigg (although hard to see who he will knock off for a spot) and Anderson. So whilst its true to say the Blues had a good team in on the night I think we weren't that much more experienced (2 good players worth) and a better Blues team awaits us throughout the year.

On a side note, I know Dwayne Russell has his detractors but yesterday during the North v Whoever game he msut have stated 'to play Carlton in the semi-final next week' at least 10 times. Sure, he must have a cheat sheet or a set of lines he uses to segue intros / add breaks but it was good to hear the name being used so often.

I reckon he needed to repeat it because he couldn't believe that we actually WON A GAME OF FOOTBALL
