I was wondering if anyone could give me the name of a major family assistance type of group in Melbourne that might be able to help with an idea that I have. Well, to be honest, someone else posted it on a forum, but I would like to put it into action. It was suggested that if you could a) not attend CFC home games and b) had a few bucks to spare, that you shell out for someone to receive a membership (family) courtesy of for arguements sake the Salvo's. The idea being that the membership would go to someone who was down on their luck/been through a bad situation. Obviously they would have to be Blues fans living in Melbourne. I think it would be an excellent idea but the problem is that I want it to get to its' intended destination. I mean there is no point in my buying the membership in my name and having it sit there not being used. Would the Smith Family cater for this sort of thing? I can't attend any games because of work commitments, but I would love to help out in this way. I think it could also be a great way to encourage young kids to be Carlton fans. Maybe other people could do the same, or chip in with some mates for whatever level they could afford? Just a thought. Any ideas would be appreciated because I want to get it done before round 1. |

The bulldogs have something like this going, they call it the backyard bulldogs program or something IIRC. The bulldogs forum (which no longer exists) used to raise some decent money for it aswell. For every $?? they raised would allow a certain number of underprivileged kids to goto games. Good idea! |

This forum sponsors Paul Bower and receives two Gold Social memberships as part of the package. The memberships are donated to (I think) the Make-a-Wish foundation. Mrs. Caz organises it and I'm sure they'd be happy to have another membership or two to take kids to the footy. |

Perhaps Mark H or Stephen M could initiate some sort of official donor club membership scheme. If there is anyone on the site, moderators or whoever (Mrs Caz?), who think that they might be able to set-up something like this, could they please either make a post or send me a pm, as I am serious about this. My own family has been through hell and back for the last eighteen months. Things have come good for us, only the healing process remains, but I would love to be able to offer a ray of hope for another family in need. cheers |
