Crystal-balling:
One would assume that Freo will knock off the Kangaroos this weekend, and if we get over the Hawks, we will have to travel to Subiaco.

Obviously Freo were always going to be at home in Week 1 given it was a Derby, but to have home ground advantage for BOTH quarter fnal and semi final is pretty ordinary.

I think they're playing at Telstra dome vs Kangaroos so only home ground adv for the semi (if they win). If they win that game it's also likely that the GF will be at Subiaco

I'd love it if we got up over the Dorks, and had to travel to Subi. Give some of the young 'uns a taste of Subiaco, and what to expect there. Could help through the season.

Bluebo - you're right.
Don't know why I got it into my head that they were playing in WA this weekend??

not sure if this happens for pre-season comp

but there should be a log of all pre-season comp games

you look who was the home team last time they played and schedule the upcoming game as a home game to the team who played away when they last met.

provided we win this week a home game would be great for the finances but i think an interstate trip might also do good for team bonding and morale.

Hey if Kangas beat Freo and we beat Hawks, is there a chance we would play the Kangas at the Gold Coast next week ??

I hope so because me and about 6 of my mates are going to the Gold Coast for a Bucks weekend and we are all mad Carlton Supporters!

Not a chance Russ. North whored out of Canberra last year. We now have Dogs and Dees as 'our teams'.

Would be awesome if that was the case, but it won't happen, unfortunately.

If it did, I'd be there with bells on! And make sure that a shitload of us came too.

Ahh well it's only the NAB cup...

If you look on the flipside, if Freo makes it to the GF - it means they have only had practice playing away in one match prior to the season proper... and for a team like Freo that has tended to struggle in the past in away matches this might be to their detriment... *shrugs* :?

It will be either at Subi or Cararra. Heard that earlier on.

Freo's done as well away from home in the last 2 years as they have at home. In 2005 I think they actually may have won more games on the road despite finishing 10/11th. Home losses cost them a berth in the finals that year.

How do they choose venues?

Surely the better performing team should get preference for the venue.

eg - let's say Carlton had beaten Hawthorn by 50 points and Freo beat North by 10 points or vica verca... surely the better performing team gets first crack at where the final should be played...

It seems to be the team with the shorter break.
