Quote:
Carlton is back, I'm feeling blue

SIX months ago the people who disliked Carlton, such as myself, were pretty happy with the world.

The committee was fighting, coach Denis Pagan and the coaches were fighting, Fevola was getting kicked out of Ireland and the club was broke.

Then Richard Pratt turned up with the golden cheque book, the Blues beat hated foe Essendon* last weekend and it had a family day where 5000 turned up.

They were all signing autographs, Dick Pratt was there with Bryce Gibbs and Dick even got presented with a guernsey with ``President'' on the back.

They have hired old Herald Sun journo Tony de Bolfo to resurrect their magazine and are planning a Thursday night club when one of the old premiership heroes will join the faithful for a quiet beer to talk about the glory days and watch some videos.

I started to feel sorry for Carlton for a while but when I rang a prominent Blues supporter yesterday, I got the same message: ``We're back, baby, just us watch us turn heads this year.''

I instantly forgot all my good thoughts about Carlton and remembered all the reasons why as a player against it for 13 years I never liked the club: win one game and the old arrogance comes back.

I am prepared to say the Blues will still finish last this season. I'll certainly be praying that comes about.

That's not so bad chucky... I would prefer people like Crackers to hate us rather than pity us.

I've been saying this since the Pratt appointment.

The other 15 clubs and their supporters KNOW that their time in the sun, with Carlton lurching from one disaster to the next, is nearly over.

They couldn't match our success before - now that we've known REAL hardship, they are shitting themselves at the vengeance we will sow.

The levels of arrogance seen before will be dwarfed by what's on the horizon. When it all clicks life will be hell for those opposed to the Navy Blue tornado.

Exciting times lay ahead.

Tony De Bolfo has been writing for the mag for a while now. Does it mean that he is editing the whole magazine?

If Crackers only gig is a sad little column in the Geelong Advertiser and swapping racing tips on Friday Morning on Radio 774 with Red Symons and Demetrispew  - then he is the least of my worries. :P

What I did like was the little piece below that article about Darren Milburn,

Having him kicked in the face and breaking every tooth in his ugly head is a nice piece of KARMA after the dirty filthy act he perpetrated in on Stephen Silvagni in Round 22 of 2001 at Princes Park.

Someone mentioned in another thread about chickens

ARE THEY STARTING TO COME HOME TO ROOST LATELY OR WHAT - I AM ON A ROLL BABY!!!!!!!!!!

Yes, "the beast" is part of the "men of the press".

We need his totally "unbiased" approach to that mag.

Great to see the big fella back.

Know its not completely on topic, but you can see this around the place. Noticed it at the game on Saturday night - the Essendon* supporters looked genuinely scared. They know we are back and they are worried! :-D

Ha! I remember in *PRIMARY SCHOOL* Grade 6 maybe? Tony de Bolfo came into the class to give a chat about being a journalist...

...can't remember sweet f-all about what he was talking about - the only thing I DID remember was the answer to the only question I asked: 'What footy team do you barrack for?'

'Carlton'...

:P

Tony has actually been short changed a fair bit in that article, his role at the club will be more extensive than that.

Great addition to the club. :-D :-D

De Bolfo made the Hun worth buying in the 80's and 90's.

Great to have him on board - mind-boggling that he was ever off-board.
