Just got excited at the idea of travelling to Tassie by the Spirit of Tasmania
2 nights at sea and sunday to recover.

9PM ex melb arrive 7AM game time 6PM return boat departs 9PM

I know it would mean leaving before the game finished

Anyone know how far Devonport is from the ground.

You would need to get there at least an hour before the departing time aswell. So basically you wouldn't get to see the game.

Your best option would be to spend the night in tassie and get the boat the next morning, although the day trip is incredibly boring.

Mate the guys are right i what they have said already

it is at least an hours drive to luanceston and is roughly around 90k trip

then getting to the ground which is the other side of the luanceston heading out in inveresk

by the time ya get into the ground it would be time to turn around and head back

better of coming back on sunday as others have said

paulg,

Not sure what deal you are getting but if it's the cheap seat u wont get much shut eye if that's your plan.

Apparently people sleep out in the main lounge area on the long cushioned seating. You can stretch out if you get a spot early.

I've done the trip with car, and whilst Devonport isn't too far from Launceston it would still mean missing most of the game and defeating the purpose of the whole trip. Leaving Sunday arvo would be perfect. Take Monday off work to recover.

None of which is an option for us Northerners, who lost our connection with the Spirit last year

Go with it son - make a weekend of it instead of a long boat-trip for nothing!

And let's hope it's not for nothing - Carlton by 15

Have fun on the spirit... rather than lapping up the inclement Tassie weather I think I might just kick back at home, with a few mates, a few cold ones and watch it on FTA... 8) 6.10pm yeah? Rok on!

Going to Launceston? Have lunch at Still Water Restaurant -best food and service in Tasmania if not Australia. And before you all bag that, think Renault Awards - winner last two years!! And tell the owners Don and Mel Cameron that Taff says hi!

Spirit of Tassie has day sailings on weekend - so you could take the Friday night boat over, and then the Sunday morning boat back. Get you back in Melbourne by 7pm. Unfortunately, I'll be making the trip from Melbourne to Devenport on Sunday. A day late.... :(
