Apparently the blue edge to the shorts last night is a new type of fabric for the players to wipe the sweat from their hands. We appear to be the first club to use it, and from what i read the other day, it was most likely part of the $300k that Pratt donated. I love Pratt :-D

That's exactly what the the blue patches on the butt were for. The Brisbane Broncos unveiled the shorts last week in their lead up to their clash with the Saints.

Given the Broncos lost and we almost lost, I doubt they create much of an advantage.

Why does it need to be a different colour?

I liked the look of the shorts. It looked like the guys hadn't tucked their tops in.

Isn't it nice to be leading the pack rather than chasing it?

loved the new jumpers, they look lighter in weight and tighter fitting and I prefer the straight edge at the bottom as opposed to the rounded edge one we've had in previous years. The shorts sound great but the patches look naff IMO, but you can get a pair for yourself at the blueshop - a pinch at only $110 a pair, after all, material that absorbs moisture is a rare commodity. It's good to see that amongst the joy and turmoil of the 06-07 offseason there are still some constants; Essendon* still blow and we can always rely on the club to bend us over for merchandise.

The shorts were on the drawing board last year.

But because of Pratt we enjoyed the game more so I don't want to stand in the way of him taking the credit.

Yes the shorts were a Nike (or whoever the clothing sponsor is) initiative. They trialled them during training mid way through last year in preparation for 2007. It was mentioned on TC at the time.

But don't let that get in the way of Mr Pratt getting the credit though. He is a great man and for all we know he may have got it all off the ground last year. 8)

Also, I assume the patches are made a different colour for marketing purposes. Gets people talking, they actually notice that there is a different material there, blah blah blah.

I thought they looked good. Would like to see them worn in conjunction with the white away clash guernsey, just to mix it up a bit.

I actually liked the shorts. Not 100% convinced about the shape of the patches, but I like them overall.

Same. And Jarusa's marketing point is probably bang on, but I'd still prefer the patches to be white.

It was also odd that we were wearing white shorts, when it was our "home" game.

If the patches were white; we wouldn't be talking about them.....and therefore it's a talking point which is good for Nike and good for CFC.

Navy on White....and White on Navy.....we're leading the pack!

Maybe there should be CFC logos in the Navy Blue patches.
